New Orleans was founded on the 7th of May, the year 1718 by the French Mississip

pi Company under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville. It is loc


ated in Louisiana City on the Mississippi River near the Gulf of Mexico. New Orl
eans is famously known as the Big Easy. The town borrows its name from the city of Orl
eans in France. Historically this was a French colony up to 1763 when by the Tre
aty of Paris it was ceded to the Spanish Empire. Later Napoleon sold Louisiana (
New France) to the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. From then he
nceforth the New Orleans that sits within Louisiana City has been part and parce
l of the Superpower, the United States of America.
New Orleans can be said to be a city full of blended culture. The media may pain
t it as a high crime area, but on the positive end, it has significantly contrib
uted to the American history. In the American Revolutionary war, for instance, i
t served as a critical port for the smuggling reinforcement and aid to the rebel
s and transportation of military equipment. It was a winning frontier for the re
bels. Additionally, the city is famous as the birthplace of jazz music. Music is
a bond that so easily blends a different people and whips them into pulling tog

nter for civil rights movement. It has immensely contributed to the enforcement
of constitutional rights including effecting of the 15th Amendment and the econo
mic empowerment of the African-Americans. The American dream is apparently being
manifested within the city of Louisiana. New Orleans is a cocktail of social, p
olitical, economic and cultural growth. An adoption of a multidimensional approa
