Position: Clinic Nurse

1/ General conditions

Médecins du Monde (MDM) is a French INGO working in Myanmar in the field of


HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities on high-risk groups, such as drug users and
sex workers in Yangon and Kachin State. In Pyapon Township, Community Health
Care program to improve access to health care for the population in remote areas.

The clinic nurse should be a registered nurse with experience in general health care
(ambulatory /OPD) and with knowledge of public health, in order to assist the medical
doctor in daily medical care. She will be a team member for all aspects of patient care
regarding the STI, OI care.

2/ Hierarchy

The clinic nurse will be answerable to the clinic team leader, project manager and
ultimately to the national medical coordinator.

3/ Duties Description

• Handling patients charts (finding and keeping records


systematically)
• Systematic filing of lab results, CXR and USG results
• Organise the daily medical activities with the medical team at the
clinic in the drop in centre (DIC) controlling the medical
equipment, taking smears and samples, taking vital signs of the
patients
• Assist the medical doctor in terms of sample taking, lumber
puncture and special procedures
• Provide counselling and health education during the medical
attention
• Inform the medical officer on the patient constraints
• Responsible for injections, phlebotomy and cash management for
medical investigations (when it is in need)
• Maintain clinic hygiene and equipment standards to a high level in
accordance with best practise
• Maintain confidentially of patients files and keep the clinic and
research data well organized
• Support the counsellors in the HIV and ART counselling by building
proper chart flow, and good communication
• Participate in the TB, ART meetings and weekly staff meetings
• Promote and respect of MDM principles and ethic

Task for Sex Workers Component

• To promote the health care services in the target populations


• To promote and control the medical follow up among the target
populations.
• To perform STI mobile visits to the sex establishment in order to
provide STI syndromic treatment (if it is requested)
• Conduct home based care and hospital visits to PLHIV (ART and
non ART patients) whenever requested
• To train the peers educators (especially clinic peers according to
MDM policy)
• Participate in training components of MDM (e.g VPET, positive
prevention)
• To attend weekly staff meetings and other MDM general staff
activities
• To promote a friendly, non-judgmental and professional approach
and respect the rights of all patients

4/ Requested skills
 Nursing Diploma, BSc ( Nursing ) or Received training on STI, OI
and ART

 At least 1 year working in Clinic or hospital setting

 Fair listening, spoken and writing skill

 Basic computer skill ( word, excel )

 Flexible, good interpersonal communication skill, Respect to


MDM policy or can work under stressful condition ( from caring high stage
terminally ill patients )
