GATHERING SPACE Pueblo Revival
Justification
Which of elements and principles (light, color, line, texture, balance, proportion, harmony, etc.) are dominant and
subdominant in the design, and how do they support the concept?
o Most of the elements and principles of the design support the concept. The interior is designed based on a pueblo
revival style. Different tones of browns are used throughout the building. Texture was added on the gathering area
by having a brick wall and wood flooring.
How does your design reflect the culture and diversity of the client who will occupy the space? How do the furniture,
finishes, lighting selections, and custom elements meet the needs of the women and children living in the transitional
housing?
o The design reflects the culture of the client by the style of furniture, finishes, lighting, and colors. They were chosen
based on research of revival style. All the furniture used is very comfortable and accommodates for all types of ages
and people needs.
How did universal design application, code, or egress requirements and environmental design choices influence the
decisions you made throughout the design process?
o Public restroom is ADA compliant and as well as the two apartments. The restroom provides a 5-foot turning radius.
The showers have grabbing bars and shower seating.
Reflecting
I have learned many things from this course that will be very
helpful for future studies and my professional path. I will always
consider all of the feedback I received from my professor and
classmates. At the begging of the course I felt overwhelmed
having to work using AutoCAD because I havent being used
AutoCAD in a long time. This course helped me remember all of
the hotkeys and helped me fish my assignments on time.
