RANGE/ELEMENT EVIDENCE

Save I used this option every time I did some

work to
my

graphics. I saved various versions just in

case I needed to go back to the original
version.
This is the save as option for a new file.
To save a file already edited I just press
save.
Tabs This is something I use often as it allows
you to keep more than one graphic open.
Helpful in cases where I am importing a
graphic onto another.
These are the tabs above as you can see

its easy to navigate.

Work Area I used the work area to its full potential
by using ctrl + and to zoom in and out
to make allow myself to be precise with
graphics and text.
This is the work area. The image is just
an example.
Tool Box This was on the left; I used a range
of tools from the tool box.
This is the tool bar to the left. There
are also other tool bars. They can
be customised. The other main one
is the tool bar for font, size, colour,
etc.

Optimising N/A
Resolution I used this feature when creating new
graphics. When setting the resolution,
you can set how detailed the graphic is I
guess. I used this feature depending on
the screen resolution as well. I prefer
150 ppi for the best image on screen.
This is
the
new

graphic window.
Bit Depth N/A
Dimensions I used this when creating my graphics.
When the option new is pressed on
Photoshop you can choose the size of
the workspace. I chose according to my
plans. So I needed a workspace of a3
then
three
for
the
different sizes of the game cover. Finally
I needed some to fit the sprites in. This
was easy to use and could be altered in
image size in the edit menu. The image
is the size options.
Open I used open to open any graphics I had
saved in my workspace. This was easy to
do all I had to do was locate the file. To
open an image is easy, its in the file
menu, then open. You select the file you
want to open.

Edit I used these options a lot. If I ever

needed to resize a graphic or change the
angle I use the free transform tool or the
rotation tool.
The edit menu is easy to access.

Size When I made a new graphic I was careful

of what size I was choosing so I didnt
use this feature. I have included an
image of this above in the dimensions
section.
Height I set the height and width according to
my plans. For example, the poster was
international paper set on A3. I have
included an image of this above in the
dimensions section.
Transparency I used on the DVD cover Header as I
was importing this onto my actual DVD
cover and wanted to still have a
background colour amongst all of the
writing

Background The rest of the backgrounds other than

the characters were set on a white
background as default.
File name I always set the file name as I create a
new file.

I
always name the file at the start and
save it in the right place, it makes it
easier in the long run.
Text I used the text tool throughout the
assignment while creating the graphics
at first but then realised it was easier
and more efficient to do text on
illustrator.

This is the text options anyway.

Fill/Eye Dropper I used this option a lot to fill anything in I
needed in colour, with that the
eyedropper tool to select colours I have
previously used to be more accurate.
The eye dropper tool comes into play
when in the fill menu.

Shape I used this tool to create basic shapes

like rectangles for outlines.
As part of the tool box the shape
option is in here. If you hold the
shape others become available.
Line I used the line tool to create shapes. The
line tool is another option from the
shape tool, I have an image of that
above.
Stroke N/A
Zoom This is a tool I used all the time and I
used shortcuts ctrl + and -.
Guides and rulers I used these to position things accurately
on screen.
Layers This is a screenshot from my front cover
graphic. The layers are organised by
name; I need them as I can
move certain graphics
under others. For example,
the background colour
needs to be under
everything else, under all
the other layers.

History Actions Sometimes I do work without putting it in

my diary withot knowing what I have
done I have to go back into the history
actions to see what tools, etc. I used.
Arranging I believe I mentooned this in layers.
Looking at the example I have named all
the layers to make it easier for myself.
Colour Selection I use this tool all the time to pick a
colour I need.
Lasso N/A
Marquee tool N/A
Magic wand i used the madic want to get rid of areas
that I didnt want this was used when I
did my DVD Cover as there were some
past of the XBOX cover that I didnt want
within my work
Copy/Paste These tools were used to copy text that I
had previously written
Transform/Scale/Ro N/A
tate
Crop tool I used this to crop images.

This is the crop tool as a part of the

tool menu.

Undo I used the shortcut being ctrl alt z. I used

this often because often I make little
mistakes.
Fill I use this tool a lot to fill certain areas of
a graphic with colour.
This is the fill tool as a part of the
tool menu.
Advanced tools Im not advanced with Photoshop. With
this assignment there was a lot of
pressure as there were so many graphics
to create in so little time therefore with
this one I stuck to what I knew so no
advanced tools were used.
