Strengths of the lesson:

- Jawaher dives straight into the lesson!

- She asks a few initial review questions and immediately immerses her students in the
topic.

- Jawaher ensures that students have a say: the initial activity is very much an exchange
between Jawaher and her students. Excellent!

- Jawaher models how students will create the building. She gives relatively clear
instructions.

- Students have many, many questions; Jawaher addresses all of them.

- Are you ready to listen! This strategy helps her gain the students attention.

- Jawaher gives instructions to the Game + reviews some key rules: good

- Overall, she manages the Game quite well and with a smile!

- At times, Jawaher takes more serious action with individual students (as has been
modeled by her MST): Khaled I will write your name; come and sit here she says.

- Students get noisy as time (on the carpet) progresses .. and Jawaher writes a
students name on the whiteboard. Silence is regained. Once more, Jawaher has
decided to manage the class in a manner that is similar to her MSTs (and which the
students are used to).

- Group names are already organized on the whiteboard. Transition to the work area is
very effective.

- Jawaher circulates around the tables and supports/questions the students in a most
appropriate manner. She points out discrepancies and areas for improvement

- Jawaher knows all the children and is cognizant of their particular strengths and
needs. She has established very good relationships with them.

- Jawaher is very much at ease in this classroom. She leads the class very confidently
despite the different learning environment (not what shes used to) and the ESL factor
