Q6: Please indicate which of these terms describes you most accurately. (Student, Teacher, or
Other)
The only reason demographic information was collected was to ensure that data was
being collected from a diverse population. No correlations were intended to be made between
certain demographics answers to certain questions. In hindsight, it may have been useful to do
so and even ask for more specific information as a clear bias is presented in the data.

Q1: I would rather make one large investment at once than several small investments over time.
This question was intended to evaluate whether a more expensive one-time purchase
product would be successful among consumers. Surprisingly, over half the respondents were in
disagreement with this opinion. This fact is surprising as it is generally stated that it is better to
do something once and get it out of the way, but this survey would suggest that people prefer to
make small purchases/investments over time. This usually ends up costing the consumer more in
the long run, but people may prefer this option as they may not be able to afford something all at
once. In terms of the problem statement, people may actually prefer to purchase cheaper screws
and nails as needed than have one more expensive all-in-one solution at hand.

Q2: I would rather attempt to fix/repair an object than replace it all together.
Although this question this question is very general, similar to Q1, it is intended to target
those who may be interested in the problem statement (handymen, tinkerers); to see if offering an
alternative method that would aid people in repairing objects would be useful. As expected, this
was an extremely popular opinion with over 70% of the people agreeing with the statement.
Most people feel that they should get their moneys worth with an object that they purchased.
If it is possible to keep the same object and slightly modify rather than replace it, people will feel
more gratified taking the first option.

Q3: I like to rearrange/redecorate my home/office often.

This question targets those that this problem applies to most. The problem in essence can
boiled down to, it is inconvenient to remove objects that have already been fastened, and most of
the time you don't get a choice in what type of fastener to use. People who like to rearrange
things often would then likely experience this issue most often. From the days gathered, people
seem to be almost evenly split on this subject. Rearranging your workspace is a practice that can
help invigorate new thoughts and ideas, but also takes time that a lot of people don't have. This
means that any solution to this problem would like see middling success and mixed opinions.

Q4: I am comfortable with attaching permanent fixtures (using nails, screws, hooks, etc.) to walls
and other surfaces.
This question was intended to see how widely accepted the current method of fastening
objects was (semi-permanent methods that leave traces, e.g. nails and screws). The data seems to
show that people are actually content with what is currently available. I predict that the
population I surveyed (STI students and teachers) likely has created a bias towards those that
have gained confidence with this method thorough practice. A non-permanent solution may
actually still appeal to those who feel they are prone to mistakes.

Q5: I prefer to retain the choice to move objects (furniture, paintings, etc.) around rather than
commit to leaving them in one location.
While this question is very similar to Q3, it was intended to see if simply wanted to
remain the choice to move around objects rather than actually move them around. The data
shows that people overwhelmingly agree with this sentiment. Offering choice to consumers
creates benefits for everyone, encouraging new innovations and inventions. While everyone may
not make the same choice, the fact that it isn't even offered in this case is a problem.
