First, I'm an individual who does this more as a hobby than as a business. I maintain a non-commercial exotic wood web site, which
so far has over 26,000 unique pictures of over 500 species of wood, both exotic and common. If you are interested, you can check it

Any profit I make from selling my excess veneer on the site you are currently looking at is plowed right back into the web site, both
paying for the web site service and buying more wood and veneers to take pictures of, and then selling that in turn.

The hobby nature of this enterprise is also reflected in the fact that this is NOT a high-quality web site; I go strictly for
functionalism because that's about all I have the time for or interest in (and the skill, for that matter). As you'll see, I don't have a
"shopping cart" or any of the amenities one expects on a professional web site. The point is the wood, not the site, and again, this
isn't so much a business as a hobby. As you'll see if you check out the rave reviews on my eBay feedback, folks who buy my stuff
are satisfied, and I've had many very positive comments on all the work I put into getting the descriptions accurate.

prices
Although you'll find that the prices here are actually in line with what you would pay for small amounts at most on-line stores, I'm
used to thinking in terms of bulk buying and in those terms, the prices here seem high to me. Unfortunately, I just can't make the
prices less given the HUGE amount of time it takes to put together the pictures, the descriptions, and the HTML files to make it all

work, to say nothing of the labor of cutting and packaging the veneer.

my goal
My goal on this site is to provide jewlery box makers (and anyone else who can use similarly modest-sized veneer sheets) with a
good choice of veneer in a way that shows you EXACTLY what you are buying in terms of color, grain pattern, size and so forth.
Even on eBay and other internet sites that provide pictures, the pictures are frequently so bad you can't really tell what you are
buying, but as you'll see if you check out my exotic wood web site, I'm fanatical about doing my best to get the pictures to
accurately reflect what the wood really looks like. I cannot guarantee that every picture will be EXACTLY accurate on color, but I
spend a lot of time making them as good as I possibly can, and I also do my best to describe any differences between what I see on
my screen and what the wood looks like. As I have commented on extensively on my web site, there are a few reasons why what
YOU see may vary from what I see, but generally, we will see the same thing. There's a section on the wood web site that will let

more on prices and some advice

If you want a mix of veneers at a good price, I frequently do those up on eBay (look for the seller "HobbitHouse") and you can get
many of the more common veneers (and some of the good one too!) there at a lower price than here, although of course you get less
choice in the selection. Also, if you can use a substantial amount of any one veneer, then you should shop around and check eBay
auctions for that veneer type. Typically, for any amount over a few square feet of any common veneer you certainly should NOT be
paying the $1 and up per square foot that I have to charge here for these small amounts of precisely described sheets. For the more
exotic stuff, some places will charge even more than I do, although most will charge less, but I'm not aware of ANY that give you
the kind of totally precise descriptions of what you'll be buying that I do here. That's a large part of what you're buying when you
buy here. Also I guarantee a full refund if you're not happy with what you buy from this site.

availabilty
What is shown here is mostly one of a kind, although in some cases of the more common woods, I have put in GENERIC pictures
of veneers I have a modest amount of.

GENERICs
Where possible, I have included pictures labeled GENERIC, meaning that the picture is of a piece of veneer as described but that
you won't get EXACTLY what's in the picture as the picture is a generic representation of a set of similar pieces. The prices on
these are lower because I don't have to take a picture of every piece of veneer. On the more uniform veneers in particular, this can
be very practical but even in the ones with some variation in grain I still want to make the offer when I can. The wood you get when
you buy from the generic pictures will be very similar to what is shown, although details such as cathedral grain pattern can vary
significantly.

payment and shipping

I'll take personal checks and money orders, but I prefer PayPal. I can't process credit cards. I ship only by USPS, not FedEx or UPS,
and I'll ONLY ship lots from this site by Priority Mail, because the shipping containers and the general handling that this mail
gets give the best chance that it will get to you undamaged. If you live in California, my insistance on Priority over Parcel Post may
cost you a dollar or two, but in general there's not really much difference. Most packages of modest amounts have a shipping cost
between $5 and $10 depending on where you live. When you tell me what you want to buy, I'll give you a shipping and handling
cost. Because of the extra care I take in packing up these expensive sheets, there is a flat $3.00 packing fee on all orders, in
addition to the priority mail cost.

In some cases, there is bookmatching that dictates that the sheets be sold in pairs, but unless this is specifically stated, you can buy
only one sheet where more than one is pictured. Also, in some cases I have more of the same sheets available and will prorate them
if you wish.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, the measured area (as stated in the parentheses just below each picture) is a defect-free
rectangle within the bounds of the piece. For fully sound pieces, the actual area may be no more than the stated size, but for pieces
with rough edges or edge cracks, etc, the actual size can be quite a bit more than the stated size. All veneer is nominally 1/42th thick
(the kind you can cut with scissors).
