Employee Agreement for the Use of Computers and Telecommunications

Lumen Christi Catholic School has chosen to permit employees access to computer and
telecommunication resources to further the educational purposes of its goals and objectives.
Reasonable care has been taken to assure the appropriateness of information received via the
Internet. However, employees are warned that Lumen Christi Catholic School does not have
control over what information is displayed on the internet. Each employee is responsible for
imparting the standards of ethical and legal conduct when using the school’s computers and
telecommunication systems.

Additionally, individual users of the school computer networks are responsible for their behavior
and communications over those networks. It is presumed that users will comply with the school
standards and will honor the Employee Agreements. It is also assumed that employees will treat
school equipment with respect and consideration.

The use of software or equipment, including Internet usage for any reason, shall be only for
legitimate educational purposes including school work, assignments, research, lesson
preparation or completion, peer communications, career or college and technical school searches
or job searches, and or other information gathering or sharing as it relates to education or the
person’s job responsibilities. Uses for personal financial gain, entertainment, recreational or
purely personal uses are not authorized. Staff using this resource for purposes not clearly
articulated in this policy or guideline, are required to request and receive permission from an
administrator. All users shall conform to copyright laws. The ethical, legal and practical problems
caused by inappropriate use of these resources shall be made available to all staff members.

Network storage areas may be treated like all other school-owned areas. Network administrators
may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and insure that users are using
the system responsibly. Users should not expect that files stored on school servers will always
be private.

Specific Use Guidelines:


A. Distribution of inappropriate or un-solicited emails to staff members unless
explicit permission is granted.
B. Forwarding inappropriate or unsolicited emails to staff members unless
permission is granted.
C. Participation in or distribution of “chain” letter type emails where mass email lists
are forwarded thru network system.
D. Staff will be considerate in their use of resources for printing purposes.
E. Transporting equipment owned by the school will be done responsibly.

1. I have read the Acceptable Use Policy for Computers and Technology Acceptable Use
Guidelines and clearly understand the responsibilities regarding computer hardware,
software, and Internet access at this school.
2. I also hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and this school
from any claim or loss resulting from any infraction of the policy or any applicable law.
