1. PURPOSE
The standards of color-coding will clearly identify pipelines, electrical switchgear,
ventilation /fire control doors, structures that are posing obstructions and
potentially hazardous areas (such as floor demarcation) so that people are able to
quickly recognize and be warned of potential hazards.
2. SCOPE
These standards will be applied to all PTFI Operations, Privatized Companies and
Independent Contractors who work in the PTFI Contract of Work (COW) area.
3. STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
3.1. Specific colors have been selected to conform to requirements site wide
and with Privatized Companies and well as Independent Contractors
working in the PTFI Contract Of Work areas. See Elements 1.21, 2.13
and 2.50.
3.2. Paints must be approved to conform to safety and environmental
requirements.
3.3. Pipeline colors will conform to ISO standards.

4. STANDARDS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1. Department Head (Manager /General Superintendent)
Shall ensure items and areas requiring color coding are identified and
correctly color coded.
4.2. Area Owner (Superintendent /General Foreman)
Shall ensure all equipment is color coded in accordance to PTFI
standards.
Shall display color code chart in the workplace.
Fading or deteriorating colors will be identified and repainted.
All people in area of responsibility will be trained and will become
familiar with the meaning of color codes.
4.3 Employees
Know the meaning of the color codes.
Report any faded or deteriorated colors for coding purposes to the
supervisor.
