ALL INN REWARD CHART:

A LEARNING INNOVATION
I.INTRODUCTION

The definition of reward, according to the New Oxford

American Dictionary, is a fair return for good behavior.

There are many rewarding types, such as giving

chocolates and candies, making student leader of a

game or group reporting, giving some educational

supplies and others. Teachers use them in certain

circumstances. For example; when a student hands in

his/her homework on time, teachers give rewards as a

reinforcement. Another example is that if a student

says thank you after being permitted to answer a

question, the teacher can reward the student. All of

these rewards are reinforcements for students and

teachers use these reinforcements because they think

that rewarding makes students do their tasks better.

Rewarding students for good behavior is a popular

classroom discipline procedure. It means that teachers

tend to reward students in order to manage the

classroom. According tothe psycho-educational approach,

while students develop self-discipline, rewarding

behavior extrinsically is just an encouraging tool, so

teachers can use rewarding as a supportive implement.

Furthermore, giving reward can reinforce the need for

students to complete their tasks and create competition

between them. For example; if the teacher says you are doing

pretty well and gives while a student is doing his/her

homework, this will encourage other students to accomplish

their tasks. Also, the rest of the class will want

their teacher to have an eye for what they are doing

when the teacher praises a student who has produced

desired behaviors.

II.RATIONALE
Teaching children is easy for an innovative teacher.
Nowadays, teachers often complain regarding the behaviors of

their pupils. It is very difficult to get all the attention

of the pupils if teachers will stick to their old routines.

Teachers need to be creative in order to be an effective

one.
I myself must admit that I encounter difficulties to

get the attention of my pupils. I tried a lot of ways to

improve my classroom management. As a new teacher before in

a small private school, there are times that pupils will

test you to your limit to determine your strengths and

weaknesses. They will really do ways that will make the

class disorganized.
Then, I often hear the benefits of rewards and

punishments from my colleagues. From the idea reward and

punishment, I devised a reward chart for my pupil. I call

this ALL IN REWARD CHART.

Since I used this chart, I find it easy to manage my

class. My pupils are always looking forward to go to school

and earn their stamps. I can see their wide smiles every

time they earn one. They would even show it to their parents

and friends.
I just proved that rewards are really motivating. This

is one way to help the teachers in controlling the behaviors

of the pupils.

III. OBJECTIVES
The innovation has the following general and specific

objectives:
A. General

To create a reward system to the pupils that

will help in an effective classroom

management.

B. Specific

Recognize the highest scorer in the class.

Give credits to those who give extra effort

in co-curricular activities.
Appreciate the responsible pupils of the

class.
Give recognition to the model pupils who are

behaving well in the classroom.

IV. NATURE AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM

Each pupil is given an ALL IN REWARD CHART. It is the

prerogative of the teacher if she will paste the charts of

the pupils at the corner of the classroom so everybody can

see it or it will be stapled in the communication notebook

of the pupils.
The pupils should always have their reward chart with

them. Every time they did a good job, they will earn a stamp

from the teacher. The pupils can earn a stamp through:

ACADEMIC

a. earning a perfect score/getting the highest

score
b. being the earliest to submit a project
c. answering a difficult question in a

recitation period

BEHAVIORAL

a. behaving well in class

b. setting a good example to the class

SCHOOL TASK

a. maintaining a territorial assignment clean

b. performing an assigned task responsibly

CO-CURRICULAR

a. joining a competition for the benefit of the

class
b. performing extracurricular activities
Every time a pupil perform an extraordinary job,

he or she deserves a stamp.

The pupil who fill out the reward chart will

receive an award from the teacher. The award to be

given will depend upon the pupil. It can be school

supplies, grocery items or foods. The teacher will

determine which is very much needed by the pupil-

winner. The pupil will also be given a certificate for

completing the reward chart. Once a pupil completed the

chart, a new reward chart will be given for him/her to

fill out.
The teachers can have fund raising projects or

look for some benefactors for the program. If there is

a big amount of money available, she can even give

school uniforms as prizes. This reward chart can run

smoothly inside each classroom depending on the

dedication of the teacher to do it.

The teacher should also be fair in giving stamps

to the pupils. The teacher must see to it that

everybody is involved and treated fairly.

The teacher must also do the job of explaining the

use of the reward chart that will be positive in the

understanding of the pupils. There might be an instance

that the pupils will have an unhealthy competition.

The teacher must also maintain the excitement of

the pupils by providing different colors of stamps as

well as different designs.

I myself is known for my huge collection of

stamps. Every time I visit a bookstore, I always go to

the stamp section to check if there are new designs.

Teachers can also design a personalized stamp and there

are persons who carve stamps at a minimum amount.

All In Reward Chart can be an effective solution

for a classroom management problem, absenteeism, poor

study habits, tardiness, and a lot more if the teacher

will be creative enough in its implementation.

Here is a sample template of a reward chart. The

teacher can also change the style of the reward chart

MY REWARD CHART
so the pupils will still look for forward to receiving

their reward charts.

Here are samples of decorative stamps the teacher

can use.
Indeed giving rewards to pupils is an effective way to

manage the class. The teacher is the manager of the

classroom. She can be responsible to make the reward system

in the classroom a healthful competition for the pupils as

well as an inspiration for learning.
