MicroCamps

The members of the Solution Four: Lars Henrik Hvidsand, Vid Primoi, Andra Novak and
Teja Bajde.

Our idea is that Microsoft engages partnership we other companies, schools, and Ja-Ye and
agrees to host what we would call MicroCamps. The theme of these camps is the
entrepreneurship, and also problem solving for the different companies.

The task itself has given us the target group, and that is the students in Slovenia. There is no
point trying to teach old dogs new tricks, if we are going to implement the Office 365 Pro
Plus, we need to reach out to the young people. We believe that when the boys and girls see
this product, and understand how it is used, they will bring that with them home and persuade
their parents. Aristotle once said: Good habits formed at youth make all the difference.
There are these habits that we want to influence with our solution. At the end of the day, no
parent can refuse their kids anything, and we need to make use of this.

This is one of the benefits with our solution. By engaging partnership with schools, we will
automatically gain the interest of the youngsters, whether they like it or not. What we mean
about this statement is that the students will have to engage in the projects because it is a part
of the school. What the schools chooses to do is up to them, but we would recommend that
everyone will take part in it.

One of the problems that might occur is the lack of companies and schools that will enter this
partnership. It is in peoples minds that change is not always good and the education should
stay the same. But the world is changing and like Mr. Kokalj said, it is changing fast.
Therefore we need to address this problem quickly and the best thing to do then is to get in
touch with companies and schools. We have already talked with Joica Hribar the headmaster
of the primary school at martno v Tuhinju and Jure Grilc, the headmaster of primary school
in Vodice. In other words, we have some clear possibilities for hosting these camps, which
makes it even more feasible. We have also talked with Mr. Kokalj about the importance of
increasing the interest in entrepreneurship. He was positive to our idea, and said that it would
definitely help the entrepreneurship with efforts like this.

Our solution is extremely simple. Instead of making something new and fancy that might not
even work, we can ensure you that this idea is feasible. The reason why we can claim this is
because it has worked with us, at this very camp. The Microsoft board might not be aware of
this, but with the handing out of the tablets, and the explanation of the Microsoft Office 365
Pro Plus pack, they have gained supporters. We were so impressed by this, so we thought; if it
has worked with us, why shouldn`t it work with the rest of the youth in Slovenia?

It is difficult for us to change the teaching plan in Slovenia. Therefore it is uncertain when the
project will begin. But as we can see today, it is already happening, and therefore the
problems with this are not too large. Almost every child or youth in Ljubljana goes to some
sort of school; therefore it is not a rush for reaching out to everyone. Actually it would
probably be a disadvantage if we do all the schools at the same time. The reason behind this is
that it would cost money, in case of personnel, and the publicity with the project. It would
probably receive a lot of attention, but as the time goes by, the attention will decrease.
However by doing it the way we propose, the attention will stay at stabile level for a longer
time. In this case we believe that is better for Microsoft.

The marketing is sort of happening by itself, when we launch this plan. As mentioned earlier,
our target is the youth. Even if they do not know this, they are our way to improving the
recognisability of the Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus. It is sort of an indoctrination that this
package is so good, that when the students are out of schools, they will continue to use this
product. The future comes with the youth, and because this is the future, we should use the
youth. They will be our messengers into the market.

At the Innovation Camps that has been hosted on Kongshavn VGS, the expenses have not
been large. We have confirmation in this from one of the people behind it, and he said that
most of the work there, and the people giving lectures, are done on goodwill. We believe that
the same thing will happen here in Slovenia. The reason behind this is that there are several
people that are benefitting from economical growth, and that it would be in the interest of
everyone to facilitate for this. There are plenty of interesting people in Slovenia who would be
happy to share their ideas and experience. Therefore if we are going to estimate what it would
cost, we must look at the prices for gifts to the people who are holding the lectures. If we
assume that the presenters receive a bottle of wine and some flowers, each camp would cost
about 75 Euros. Then we need to time this with the amount of camps. This number is up to the
Microsoft board in Slovenia, but independent of this number, the expenses will not be large.

If we look at this innovation camp, and the one that was hosted in Oslo, it is a part of the
Erasmus+-project. If it is possible to receive money from this, or that the project is
subsidizing the projects in Slovenia, it is possible to cut the cost even more. However in this
business plan we will not base the finances on this because we want to show how cheap this is
anyway, without help from others.

Furthermore we have the expenses of the prizes for the people who win these camps. Our idea
is that this should be a tablet or another Microsoft product. There is a thought about this as
well. Instead of giving money, that will just be lost in the crowd in for example scholarship
money, it is better to give them a physical object. In addition to the fact that it is cool with a
modern gadget, it is also a reminder of Microsofts thought behind these projects. That is to
ensure that young people will use the Office 365 Pro Plus, and that they will continue to do
this in the future. A tablet costs around 100 Euros, and if we assume that there will be five
winners in every camp it would be 500 Euros in total for the prizes. These are of course
Microsoft products, and the tablets will probably cost less for you. And if we assume that
there will be other prizes the number would probably change. Therefore in total every camp
could cost around 500 Euros, but keep in mind that we may have exaggerated the expenses.

There is perhaps one more thing that will be an expense. This is all up to the Microsoft board,
and therefore it is important for us to address this issue to you as well. The matter is whether
Microsoft wants to employ a person that will take care of these camps, or if one person will
just get an additional task. It is not necessary that there is a Microsoft representative at every
camp, and therefore there will not be too many tasks connected to this job.

It is the two-way split that is the unique feature about our idea. In the presentation that Mr.
Kokalj held, he told us about the decrease of people wanting to work as entrepreneurs. With
our solution we kill two birds with one stone. Not only are we solving Microsofts problem
with the lack of usage of the Office 365 Pro Plus, but also the business in Slovenia will
eventually increase. As mentioned earlier, Mr Kokalj is positive to this idea, and therefore we
can write this. It is a win-win-win situation: Microsoft gets more users, the entrepreneurship
grows and the teacher and students gets the opportunity to learn something new.

Another unique selling point is the feasibility. We already know that it is possible to arrange
these camps, so we are certain that it is possible to scale it up. We take something that already
works, and then we improve it.

To conclude, the MicroCamps are feasible and creative, just as the task asks for. Microsoft
will both solve their own problems, and the problems of entrepreneurship in Europe.
