Current GPA: 3.69
2. What options do you have for student teaching at your chosen college/university? Do
they allow you to student teach internationally, in urban or rural areas, or in non-public
school? How long will you have to student teach? What other requirements must be met
during the semester you student teach?

There are a handful of local schools that are partnered with Lewis university

student teach as part of the degree requirement in the 8th semester.

Part Five: Licensure

Please answer the questions below.

1. Which content test will you need to take for your desired major?

N/A

2. In your own words describe the edTPA process. What will you be required to do to
complete this portion of your license requirement? How are you assessed and what can you
do if you are unsuccessful the first time?

The edTPA is an assessment and support system that makes sure that future
teachers have the knowledge and skills that they will need for the moment
they begin teaching.

3. How do you apply for licensure? (Be specific)

First, students that are applying for licensure must complete at least 15 semester hours in an area
of specialization or major in a specific field

After all coursework requirements are met, the teacher preparation program will notify the
Illinois State Board of Education that the candidate is eligible for a license which will allow the
individual to apply for their license

They must then past several tests in order to be eligible for an Illinois Teaching License.

Before an individual may be allowed into the teacher preparation program, the individual must
pass the TAP or have acceptable scores in the ACT or SAT.

These tests to be eligible for the Illinois Teaching License included content-area tests, the basic
skills test, and the edTPA
After the tests, the individual must submit to a state and federal background check, which
includes getting fingerprints tested

Once all the requirements are met, the individual must apply for a teaching license by submitting
their application online through the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS)

The official documents that are needed are official transcripts showing proof of bachelors
degree, official transcripts that show proof of completing accredited teacher preparation program,
passing scores on the required exams, payment of non-refundable processing
fee
And completed application for teacher certification
