OUR LADY OF PEACE AND GOOD VOYAGE CHAPEL

Veraville Arcadia Subdivision

Tirona Highway, Brgy. Dulong Bayan, Bacoor, Cavite

Chapel History

Sometime in 2000, a monthly mass was held at the Veraville

Clubhouse every Saturday presided by Fr. Frederick Tacderas who
was then our Parish Priest at that time. Initially, the mass
organizers were from the Mission for Special Children
Foundation , which is located just beside our chapel. Since then
some of our parishioners started attending formation programs in
preparation for the establishment of an Area Pastoral Council.

As the parishioners grow, the mass was held twice a month until
such time that a regular Sunday mass was held in 2003.

Our chapel was under the care of Fr. Oliver Genuino from June
2003 up to May 2004. He was succeeded by Fr. Luciano
Paguiligan from June 2004 until his untimely demise in October
2005. It was under Fr. Paguiligan that the Block Rosary in our
area was launched.

In 2005, Fr. Paul De Leon gave us the patron saint and Veraville
Chapel was formally named as Our Lady of Peace and Good
Voyage. The reason why our patron saint was chosen because a
good number of parishioners in our area are seafarers.

During the term of Fr. Paul De Leon in December 2005 up to June

2009, he initiated the Pondo ng Pinoy in our area. He also
conducted various formations programs to increase the existing
number of church workers that coped with the fast growing
population of the parishioners.

When Fr. Alex Melchor Tupas arrived in July 2009, he initiated the
clustering of different chapels that are contiguously located. This
was to strengthen and foster camaraderie among neighboring
Chapels. Veraville was grouped into Cluster 3 together with the
chapels in Sagana and Shapell areas.

From 2009 up to 2015, our Church workers started reaching out

to other areas such as Maligaya, Sapang Palay, Dulong Bayan and
Globe. This was in the form of organizing weekly Block Rosaries,
Adopt a Family Program on Christmas, and distribution of relief
goods in times of calamities. Bro. Von Austria, the current head
of our Area Pastoral council makes sure that this is a continuing
program aimed in nurturing their spiritual concerns as well as to
address the material needs of our neighbors in the depressed
areas.

Fr. Joel Rosales was at the helm in June 2015 until he is

succeeded by our incumbent Parish Priest, Fr. Alex Varias in the
later part of 2016. Our parishioners are now focused in
supporting the programs in celebration of our Parish 25 th
Anniversary on February 27, 2017.
