Notes: Getting to know the building blocks of the macromolecules
You will work with your group to learn about the structures of these molecules.
First, you will build them with the molecular models (use the highlighted images in your notes as a guide).
Then, take notes (from the online book) about tips for drawing them.
Finally, practice drawing the molecules over and over (fill all the spaces).

PROTEINS (monomer: AMINO ACIDS)

Notes/tips from p. 66 in the textbook: Yes, draw the full one (theres a type-o in the simplified one!).

CARBOHYDRATES (monomer: monosaccharides (single sugars) like GLUCOSE and RIBOSE)

GLUCOSE RIBOSE
Notes/tips from p. 65 in the textbook (watch out for a mistake Notes/tips from p. 65 in the textbook:
in their drawing):

LIPIDS (building block: FATTY ACID)

Notes/tips from p. 66 in the textbook: In this column, practice drawing the full diagram (all those carbons!).

In this column, practice drawing the simplified diagram.

NUCLEIC ACIDS (building block: NUCLEOTIDE)
**Do NOT try to build this one (you cant build a phosphate groupwhy?)
Notes/tips from p. 106 in the textbook (hey, what sugar is In this column, practice drawing Figure 1.
that??):

In this column, practice drawing a simple one. I WILL SHOW YOU ONE.
Label the three parts each time.
