Our mission is to not only meet the very real immediate needs that exist in Chico,
but also to provide opportunites for restoration and recovery. Alongside our
esteemed Advisory Board Members, generous donors and volunteers, we are
able to provide hope to men and women overcoming serious life issues. To fulfill
our mission, we offer the Adult Rehabilitation Program, the Transitional Living
Program, worship services, youth and adult ministries, programs for food, utility
and emergency assistance, and community outreach throughout Chico.

DURING THE HOLIDAYS, WE DELIVER OVER 300 MEALS TO THOSE WHO
CANNOT OTHERWISE PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY MEALS.
OVER 1,200 CHILDREN RECEIVE 2 TOYS EACH.
WE PARTNER WITH THE FIRE & POLICE DEPARTMENTS TO GIVE AWAY OVER
1,000 COATS FOR KIDS IN NEED.
FAMILY & SOCIAL SERVICES
$45 Our family services programs help meet the basic needs of
daily life for those without the resources to do so themselves.
$450 A community of donors, partners and volunteers make this
mission possible.

Services include food boxes, which include weekly fresh foods
and daily lunch. Additionally, we serve a hot dinner every

this time, we feed an additional 800 people.
Building a Bridge
In order to feed the spirit, we also offer Sunday worship,
Bible study, family night, teen night and youth programs.

homelessness and drug addiction and even

after a two-year custody battle for her son,

Kaedan Melissa found that The Salvation

Army, and you, were there for her.

According to Melissa, It takes support. Ive

learned that no matter how hard it gets, God

has a blessing around every corner.

ADULT REHABILITATION
Since 2007, the George Walker Center Adult Rehabilitation

Program (ARP) has truly become a beacon of hope in the
region of Chico, Redding, Red Bluff and beyond.

Our ARP is a six-month comprehensive residential
$250,000 treatment program that includes counseling, work therapy
and 12-step recovery coursework, as well as classes in
chemical dependency, parenting and anger management.
In keeping with The Salvation Armys long tradition, this
program is provided to men and women who could not
otherwise afford rehabilitation services.
We have also developed a partnership with the County of
Butte Employment Development Department to provide
work training for displaced workers. This program is
available to ARP participants, as well as other workers,
providing job training opportunities in administration,
dispatch, production, retail and food services.
Dan has successfully completed the Retail

Vocational Training program and has

become an example to other beneficiaries

that recovery is a reality for those who

want it. He says, The Salvation Army

provides a place where you learn to live,

work and play sober. If your heart is ready

for recovery, you can be relieved of your

addiction and fear.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUPPORT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

helps broken families to gather strength and start new lives.

individuals into recovery, the reality of re-entering the

histories, credit issues, and gaps in employment due to
incarceration and active addiction. These issues require a
specific program designed to address these obstacles, create
opportunity, and establish credibility and qualifications that
will prepare them for the job market and provide for a newly
re-unified family.

HOW TO JOIN THE ENDOWMENT
PARTNERS PROGRAM
Outright Gifts
Outright gifts can be made using cash, stock, mutual funds, real estate and a variety
of other assets. Gifts of appreciated assets have the added advantage of eliminating
capital gains tax, which reduces the cost of your gift.
Life-Income and Testamentary Gifts
There are a variety of gift planning options available that can be customized to meet
your personal financial needs and charitable giving goals. They include:
Charitable Gift Annuity A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract that
provides one or two beneficiaries with a fixed and secure income for life at
attractive payout rates. Benefits include tax savings and tax-advantaged income.
When you fund a charitable gift annuity, a portion of your gift will be transferred
immediately to the area Endowment.
 Charitable Remainder Trust A charitable remainder trust is
extremely flexible and may be customized to meet your personal
and family needs. Income may be fixed or variable. The trust term
may be measured by lifetimes or a fixed number of years.

Bequest or Beneficiary Designation You can fund an

endowment gift by naming The Salvation Army as a beneficiary
through your will, living trust, retirement plan or life insurance
policy.

THE NAMED ENDOWMENT FUND:

A LASTING LEGACY
The establishment of a named Endowment Fund can memorialize
the values of an individual or family in perpetuity. The minimum
commitment to establish a named endowment is $100,000 to be
funded now or through a testamentary gift.

The Salvation Army has served the North Valley for over 100 years, providing hope, encouragement and

spiritual ministries and social service assistance programs.

I am constantly amazed at the amount of services being provided by The Salvation Army for
those in need right here in our community; equally amazing is the community support
through volunteer activities and financial donations. Yet, there is still much to be done.
