Deck The Halls Is Coming! Stop by the Deck The Halls table outside the Worship Center today
to pick up information about donating and decorating a tree or wreath for the 2nd annual Deck The
Halls Silent Auction. This fundraiser for the Creative Arts Studio Grace Rate Scholarship Fund will
take place Nov. 28 through Dec. 2. The theme this year is “All The Songs Of Christmas,” and we’d
like you to join the fun! SoJ’s youth will also help with the event so a portion of the proceeds will
benefit their mission trip expenses and they can earn community service points as well!

New Member / Disciple Orientation October 14 – To become a member / disciple at Spirit of

JOY, you’re asked to attend a 2-hour orientation immediately following the 10:45 a.m. worship
service on Sunday, October 14th. Lunch will be provided. Sign up at the Welcome Center!

Campus Ministry at UCF – The Young Adult Community at SoJ works with Lutheran Campus

2008 Burundi Mission Trip Interest Sign-Up – If you’re interested in learning more about SoJ’s
2nd Mission Trip to Burundi, Africa, next summer, sign-up at the Welcome Center soon!

Interfaith Hospitality Network Hosting Begins Tonight! SoJ starts its periodic reaching out
to IHN homeless families tonight. Remember that the Splash Zone is converted into our guests’
bedrooms this afternoon and will remain that way until next Sunday morning. Please respect the
privacy of our guests and do not enter the Splash Zone until after they depart. Positions
needing to be filled: Oct. 1, 1 overnight host; Oct. 4, 1 breakfast host; Oct. 5, 2 breakfast
hosts; Oct. 6, 1 morning host, 2 early evening hosts, 2 activity hosts; 2 laundry persons. Please
see one of the IHN captains that have vacancies: Tammy Bryan, Helen Saxen, or Terri Foster to
sign up. Thanks to all who volunteered to serve our guests and for your prayers for them and for
the volunteers that they will be caring, compassionate and understanding.

Free Transportation For Seniors To SoJ Now Available! The Congregational Care Team is now
offering free transportation to SoJ activities for seniors. This service will be coordinated by Pam
Rousseau and will require additional volunteers to make it work. See Pam if you'd like to serve in
this ministry or if you know of someone who would like to utilize the service.

Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are
needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m.
Wednesdays. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions? Call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Youth Ministry Kick Off TODAY! What is Middle & High School Ministry at SoJ and what is
planned for this year? Parents and Youth find out at the Kick Off today from 1 - 3:30 p.m. We’ll
start by helping set up for our IHN guests, followed by a potluck cook-out. SoJ will provide
hamburgers and hotdogs. The afternoon will conclude with a chance to play games, meet the
leaders, and get a calendar of events for the year.

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 on Monday nights. A family
orientation meeting will be held tomorrow at Union Park Elementary at 7pm. We are also seeking

adults with or without previous scouting experience to serve on the Pack Committee. If any adult
or any boy 6 to 11 years old is interested in being a Cub Scout, contact Chuck Call (407-375-
4548).

First Communion Classes, October 14 and 28 – At SoJ parents decide when their children are
ready for communion. A two session class for parents and children will be held from 2:30 to 4
p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14 and from 12:30 to 2:30, Sunday, Oct. 28 (lunch provided!). Sign-up at the
Welcome Center!

Hands Full Of Bibles – Each Fall at SoJ it is our custom to provide Bibles to parents of every child
/ youth at SoJ, 1st grade and up, who do not yet have one. If you would like your son or daughter to
receive a Bible later this Fall please sign-up at the Welcome Center soon!

Paid Nursery Attendant Staff Opening – SoJ is looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you, or someone you know is interested, please
contact Pastor Jeff or Nicole Eastwood today.

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Please
bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center and drop them
into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Children’s Choir – This choir for kids in grades 1-5 meets on Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. New
members are always welcome.

Joy Singers – This adult choir is for anyone, regardless of experience! They sing occasionally on
Sunday mornings to provide special music or added support to the worship team. They will not
meet this week but will resume next Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
