Thesis: the struggles of beginning teachers the first year of a teachers career is the

most crucial and the biggest portion of growth for them. Beginning teachers must

possess the ability to structure environments that lead to successful student learning

within particular classrooms. Beginning teachers have more concerns than teachers

with more experience than them.

I. As Ducharme & Ducharme recognized teachers in their first years are confronted with a

multitude of problems and issues they have never seen before.

A. Beginners have yet to develop a familiar repertoire in of which is an essential

component during the reflection process and inquiry on problems in practice.

B. An estimated twenty percent of teachers leave their profession within the first three

years of teaching 9.3 percent of them before completing their first year.
C. Understanding the issues beginning teachers are faced with might help teacher

educators and facilitators come up with solutions that enable beginning teachers stick

with their profession and make an effective transition from a novice to experienced

teacher.
For over a decade reformers have called for inductions programs with mentors and

tremendous help to ease the transition of beginning teachers into full time teaching

many believe itll help working with a experienced teacher to help shape their beliefs

and practices.
A Most induction programs try to increase teacher retention and improve the instructions

of new teachers to improve their teaching experience and teaching capabilities.

B The assignment of mentor protg relationships is a primary component in many of the

teacher induction programs.

C Official records indicate that the early stages of mentoring emphasize more providing

information about the system rather than consultation on curriculum and instruction.
In recent studies findings, have suggested that beginners felt overwhelmed by the

amount and variety of duties that was expected at school

A Findings suggest reduced concerns for self as a classroom disciplinarian and increased

concerns for human relationships within the classroom and in achieving perceived

success in creating a safe and caring environment for students.

B Beginning teachers struggle during the transition of being students of teaching to

teachers of students.
C The results of the studies suggest that rather than identifying the prevalence of

induction support, future research should endeavor to assess program quality and guide

educators in the provision of valuable induction for new teachers.

Beginning teachers get hired often late and arrive a week before school starts for the

year to set up their classrooms and prepare for students everything is new to them and

the students
A New teachers need to learn how to think on their feet size up situations and decide what

to do study the effects of their practice and use what they learn to inform their planning

and teaching.
B By most accounts new teachers need three to four years to achieve competence and

several more to reach proficiency if left to sink or swim on their own they may become

overwhelmed and leave the field.

C To take new teachers seriously we as learners we must not give them the same

responsibilities as more experienced teachers or assign them the most difficult classes.
Most often viewed as a recruitment issue the teacher shortage is better defined as a

retention issue.
A Research findings suggest that beginning teachers decisions to remain at their school

site and in their school district is most strongly associated with school climate and

principal leadership.
