Digital Citizenship Project

Note: This product will be submitted as an artifact to your E-Porfolio for MTTS #3:
Identify social, ethical and legal issues using technology & Analyze issues related to the
uses of technology in educational settings

For this project, you will do the following:

1) Identify 3 of the 9 Digital Citizenship Tenets you believe will be the most important and relevant for
your future students and parents
2) Explain why you believe these 3 tenets are the most important. Consider the social, ethical, and legal
issues you see as most pressing for your students. Be sure these issues are age-appropriate.
3) Think about specific ways you will cover these topics in your future classroom. This could be a one-day
lesson, however, I would encourage you to think about on-going assignments or plans.
4) Also think about how you can engage parents into this digital citizenship discussion. In other words,
what resources can you provide parents to support the work you will do in class.
5) Locate resources you would use in your class to support your work here- all resources need to be given
credit.

What you need to actually create:

A digital product that can be shared on your e-portfolio (this product can be a Glogster, Weebly site,
Photocollage, video, etc.).
A product that contains at least 3 different means of representation (think about images, words, and
sound).
A product that highlights 3 tenets (e.g. e-commerce, etiquette, and access) and includes the following
(see #s 2, 3, and 4 above)
o For each tenet, you explain why these tenets are most important to you and your future students
o For each tenet, you offer specific lesson plan/on-going plan ideas for stressing its importance.
You will also include resources to do this (you can either make these resources yourself or you
will find them online).
o For each tenet, you provide specific parental connections. In other words, you will explain how
you can involve parents in the support of this.
