I think it is very important to have a systematic approach to developing workshops for


other teachers. Asking questions, conducting workshops, and then evaluating the results
is a great way to measure the effectiveness of your work, and even find alternative
methods of conducting professional development,
I have run several needs assessment surveys that would help me plan for technology-
rich professional development workshops. These would support me in my plan of
completing a successful cycle of PD analysis, workshop, evaluation and follow-up.
An example is a google form I created called Teacher Thoughts and Ideas that I created
several months ago.

This form has 5 short and simple questions that help me analyze what my PD content
will be, how Id deliver it, and how this PD could positively impact student learning. It
helps me design a PD that would actually make a difference to teachers, and not be a
repetition of many droning PDs that they have attended before.
The responses

PD that would improve teacher digital age best practices in teaching, learning and
specifically assessment. Responses help me evaluate my PD and focus on critical areas
that I could improve on to make it better and more beneficial to teachers.
I also created an evaluation survey to identify whether the workshop met my goals and
to determine the effectiveness of the PD in deepening teacher content knowledge. The
evaluation asks about my own performance as workshop conductor, and also to see
whether the attendees desired goals from this PD were achieved.
