MGRP: Original Poem

Directions: Ponder a single idea related to your topic. The purpose of your poem is to praise
your subject, so the specific topic as well as the tone should reflect your admiration. You may
want to consider creating a poem that expresses the gift behind your subjects talent.
(Examples: A poem about B. B. Kings guitar; a poem about Ronald Reagans ranch; a poem
about Judy Garlands voice.)

Your poem must be no less than 16 lines and no more than 20. In addition, your poem
must include a minimum of five poetic devices (alliteration, rhyme, couplet, rhythm,
enjambment, hyperbole, understatement, imagery, synesthesia, personification, simile,
metaphor, onomatopoeia, symbolism, or synecdoche).

Identification and explanation of each device must follow your poem.

Tupac
One day this man was born
Who knew hed take the world by storm
Yeh he was rapping better than ever
He had a rough life but words die.. Never

Growing up in the street of harlem

Getto as can be but that was his kingdom
Livin his life was kind of scary
But when hes at his low he starts singing hail mary

Album after album makin them rain

Now he even has kids shouting his name
Thinkin when he dies hes going to heaven
But things hes done probably not by the way hes been livin

Now his life flashes before him he just got shot

Did he like the way his life was probably not
Even though tupac was always sinnin
He was always winnin while in thugz mansion .

1st poetic device i used is rhyme , i used rhyme by making the end of each line sound similar to
the line before by using aabb stanzas
2nd poetic device i used is rhythm , i used rhythm by trying to make each line sound the same
length as the line before making it have a good flow
3rd poetic device i used is imagery , i used imagery by using tupacs history and making it feel
powerful with the lines before and after
4th poetic device i used is simile , i used simile by using like or as in a few lines to make the
message more interesting or powerful to catch attention
5th and final poetic device i used is symbolism , i used symbolism by stating how tupac was a
rapper i even used 2 of his song titles to flow in with the line because those songs were perfect
for this topic
