=== Quick Upgrade guide for eFront version 3.

6 Community Edition ===

Upgrading an existing eFront installation is a simple process. A step-by-step gu
ide follows:
1. Backup your data. You may use efront's "backup/restore" option at the adminis
trator panel. It is a good idea to verify the integrity of the backup file after
downloading it. It is safe to take a "database only" backup.
2. For production sites, you may want to lock down efront until upgrade complete
s. In order to do so, log in as an administrator and go to Maintenance -> lock d
own. This will prevent any activity for taking place during the upgrade process
3. Download the latest version of eFront, you can check http://www.efrontlearnin
g.net/download.php
4. Navigate to the folder where your existing eFront installation lies, for exam
ple, c:\efront or /opt/lampp/efront
5. Unzip the downloaded file inside the eFront folder, thus overwriting existing
files.
6. Open your web browser and point to the installation script. If, for example,
your visit eFront with http://efront.example.com/index.php, then the installatio
n script is at: http://efront.example.com/install/install.php.
7. Click on the "Upgrade existing installation" icon to proceed to step 1.
8. Review the new version's prerequisites listed in step 1. If everything is ok,
you may proceed to step 2
9. In step 2, the system reads your configuration file and prepopulates database
settings. If you specify another database name, then your current database will
be left intact, and the upgraded data will be put inside the new database. This
is useful when you want to test a new installation, without the fear of loosing
or corrupting any data.
10. Click on the "Upgrade" button to begin upgrading. This may take a considerab
le amount of time, depending on your data size and the host speed. After the upg
rade finishes, you are ready to use eFront!
Keep in mind that eFront automatically performs a backup of your database (excep
t when upgrading to a new database). If anything goes wrong, or not as expected,
you may find this backup at the installation's first page. Clicking on it will
restore the previous database.

Please note that if you are upgrading from version 3.5 of eFront, then you are s
trongly recommended
to first upgrade to the latest version (3.5.5) and then upgrade to 3.6. Upgradin
g from older versions may be possible
but is not guaranteed to work
