Today's Metal Halide lamps are the most
ful spectrum compact "point" sources ava able.
They produce up to f ive times more umens per watt
than incandescent and enjoy an average rated life of
7,500 to 2O,O0O hours.
The malor ty of lamps isted in this catalog have
warm color temperatures (3000' to 3500"K) and
good color rendering suitable for architectural
nterors (65 to 81 CRI). As a resu t, Calcu ite Metal
Halide down iohts can blend well with other sources,

Recently introduced "open" Metal Ha de lamps
do not require a glass guard. These amps represent
a major breakthrough by simplitying relamping and
improving luminaire performance. They are avai able
in general servce lamp shapes, and n a PAR 38
configuratron with various beamspreads.
Double ended l\4eta Halide lamps (HQt by
elf icient, Osram) are super cornpact and offer the best color
rendering among Metal Ha ides. Calcu ite HQI
luminaires incorporate electronic ballasts for superior
color stabi ity and lamp life.
White Son
White Son lamps (by Philips) otfer outstanding
co or, especially compared with incandescent. Whrte
Son is a ful-spectrum, long life high pressure sodium
lamp with a very warm color (27OO"K) and excellent
color rendering (80 CRI). ln addition, White Son
amps operate n open luminaires, for simpli{ied
relamping (no glass guard required).
The Caiculite White Son downlights in this catalog
use 50 watt and 100 watt lamps, each rated at
'10,000 hours average ile. Aithough

H0 or cost effective as N,4etal Ha lde, White Son is an

ideal source for spaces where an incandescent
quality is desired, but energy etf ciency is a must.

trated-beam downlighting applications.
"Open" Nletal Halide PAR 38 lamps
offer energy savings of up to 65Va over
conventional 250 watt quanz PAR 38
lamps. These downlights share the
field-proven features of Calculite 's
incandescent downlights: easy installa-
tion, durability, excellent shielding and
full-beam output. Architecturally
scaled 6" and 7" apertures are ideal for
medium to high ceiling conditions
such as in aniums, exhibition spaces
and building lobbies where crisp, high

Low brightness, open reflector
downlights provide energy effective,
full spectrum illumination for general
lighting. Low wattage fixtures
(32w to 70w) are ideal for circulation
areas, lobbie s, and retail or commercial
spaces with low to medium ceiling
heights. Higher wattage fixtures
(100w to 400w) offer optimum
performance in spaces with greater
ceiling heights such as, airports, malls
and atriums. All "open" lamp fixtules
can be pole reJamped. Fixtures of
various wattages and beamspreads are
available with matching apertures.
In addition, DL series apertures
match other Calculite HID fixtures,
such as wallwashers and accent lights.

with a soft-edged, wide distribution.
EL series fixtures are ideal in low to
medium ceiling conditions such as
concourses, lobbies, and retail circula-
tion areas. where u ide fixture spacings
are desired. The inherent depth of t[e
ellipsoidal reflector, coupled with a
minimum aperture size, prevents
direct view of the lamp, even at steep
viewing angles. All EL series fixtures
can be relamped fiom above or below
the ceiling. All "open" lamp fixtures
can be pole re-lamped. EL series
apeftures match other Calculite HID

downlight pattern that is near a wall, or
