(SNOD) in Modify Tab manually.
Opposite Flange Change the direction of a support to the opposite (i.e. not
Direction from port to centre or from starboard to centre, but from
centre to port or from centre to starboard), when creating
a support on upper deck, for example to avoid rusting by
sea water. Also, in a special occasion, the user can do the
same manually (instead of checking this option) using
Direction in the Support Position Controller.
Orthogonal to Pipe This option is available and works when creating a support
on a sloped element, such as camber, panel, etc. It is also
applied to Cable tray and HVAC.
Centre View on Support After creating support, move the view position of the screen
with the support positing as a centre.
Creation by Volume Create multiple ancillaries within the picked volume (i.e. to
[PSM] create several ancillaries between two picked pipelines, the
user does not have to pick every single pipeline between
them). When this option is not checked, the user can create
a support only against the selected pipe using EDG.
Sliding Pad (By Design If the ancillary type which owns a sliding pad is defined in
Rule / No Sliding Pad) design rules for a selected PIPE.

The extra margin length can be configured for a support with general cut-end connection,
but not bend connection. The value is definable in the attribute :AOSExtension of support
template (STRU).
The H value is the extra length added horizontally from both ends of a defined span profile;
and the V value e extra length added vertically against the leg profile which holds up the
span profile. For example, the following picture A03 Type applied both values.

After picking a reference model to create a support, the ancillary direction will be decided as
the input value (i.e. +X (Forward), -X (After), +Y (Port), -Y (Starboard), +Z (Up) and -Z
(Down)). But in case of M and N-Types, the user should set this value in advance.
considering the support's direction before selecting the support type. And for the J-Type,
both are applicable. (i.e. the user can select the direction either before or after selecting the
support type for the J-Type and N-Type.)
Support Name Display the support name at the storage ZONE automatically. The
user can set a different name temporarily.
Adjust Support Height: When Size Table is used for support type
definition, the maximum height is determined referring to the
positions of picked surface and the selected model. If the option is
checked, the maximum height will be calculated automatically
according to the position of picked element/surface, and new support
type rules will be applied accordingly.
Subtype & Size Supp.Type: Basically support type is defined in predefined design
rules. This design rules are already defined by Size Table way
(support area, size, maximum height and number) or Weight Factor
way.
The user can select another type instead of the defined support type.
As profile types are changed according to support types, the list of
Span/Leg Size will be updated. The support type information such as
connection and profile type is displayed as an icon.
Span Size & Leg Size: Display profile type and size for defined
support type based on support design template and design rule. The
user can select a suitable profile size.
Add Element This function is to create Multiple Layer Type Support. Elements for
first creation are selected based on the highest level of Multiple
Layer, and then elements for the lower Layers are selected in group
at once. At this moment, Tolerance Check is carried out among
elements of the selected groups and +Span Clearance check is
carried out for each group. Relevant elements can be added in each
discipline and the methods are the same. Refer to the following
picture.
Dimension When picking a reference model to create a support, its width and
height is displayed in the Dimension frame according to the
predefined design rules and system calculates the position of
selected model automatically. The user can input and modify the
value in the text boxes. To reset the user-input values to the initial
predefined values, click the Initialise Span Length icon.
Option Design
Option Design
Option Design
Support The picked support direction is decided automatically, but the user
Direction can choose the opposite direction if required. Basically a direction of
leg profile flange is from forward to after, from centre to starboard or
centre to port. When the user picks by EDG, the leg profile's flange
direction is decided automatically by the support position.
A support can cause clash with other element by predefined design rule, select of
reference model, and additional manipulation of users. Fortunately, the user can
prevent the error by recognizing the model visually on the screen. When interfered
model does not appear on the screen, it's not easy for the user to recognise the
interference with the support. AOS finds and highlights other elements clashed in the
volume occupied by the support. Insulation applied to the Outfitting Model is not
subject to clash check.
Also, when a support is not connected to the surface normally, AOS application highlights
support components to prevent the errors related to manufacturing and installation.
Note: The performance can be different according to an Arc Tolerance value in the
Graphics Settings window. If its value is 0.1, more detailed information will be
displayed in the 3D graphical window, but performance of calculating volume or net
weight will slow down. Therefore it is recommended to increase an Arc Tolerance
value when checking overlapping and no-attachment for better performance (i.e.
10.0).
8 Modify Tab
The user can modify the existing created supports. For modification, system will check the
status of DB Write (lock/ claim) against supports, and if they are locked or claimed, the user
cannot change properties of the created supports.
The function of Modify is available in all disciplines.
Move Support
Select and move one or multiple supports in the 3D graphical window. When selecting a
support, Support Position Controller is displayed and the user can set the detailed position
using the Position controller, picking, offset, etc. If the ancillary type is ATTA, the ancillary
within BRAN is automatically reordered.
Pick with Offset Move a support by the input offset from the picking position.
Note: If the moving support is out of pipe range, an error message will be displayed.
Note: The user can move or rotate support profile (SCTN) using Model Editor. At this
moment, the origin position of support (STRU) should also be reflected. Otherwise, it
affects other modification and may cause an improper result. PVOL Element which is
additionally added to Support Model is used to identify position & orientation
information of Support Model. Please note modifying position and orientation of
PVOL.
Copy Support
Select and copy one or multiple supports in the 3D graphical window. When the user selects
a support, the Support Position Controller is displayed, and they can set the detailed
position information using the Position controller, picking, offset, etc. According to the
position as well as the number of a copying support, a profile shape of the original support is
displayed as aid elements on the 3D graphical window. If the ancillary type is ATTA, the
ancillary within BRAN is automatically reordered.
Note: The name of newly created support using Copy Support is decided automatically as
defined in the Settings Tab.
Pick with Offset Move a support by the input offset from the picking position.
Multiple Copy Copy a support and create multiple once at a time. The offset
distance can be applied to each support.
Note: If the creating support by copy is out of pipe range, an error message will be
displayed.
Flip a support (SCTN) in the 3D graphic view. There are two options available (Edge and
Centre).
Note: Some types (i.e. M-TYPE) are not flipped due to the nature of support.
Note: When there is a profile pad and the support located in the slopped plane with camber
is flipped, AOS deletes the pad automatically because the design parameter of
profile pad must be reset according to the slopped plane. The user must remake the
profile pad by using Insert FITT in Modify tab.
Mirror Support
Locate a support to the mirror-position. This function works only for one-by-one selection;
neither for multiple selections nor for special type support. It can be applied to the basic type
of the support with no modifications.
Note: The difference between Flip Support and Mirror Support is; Flip Support works
the symmetry with the direction of tube of pipe, but Mirror Support works the
symmetry with the direction of span profile.
Lock one or multiple selected support(s); or unlock one or multiple locked support(s).
Locked/unlocked support will be highlighted in blue and red on the screen respectively.
When the support chosen by the user was already locked, the following user confirmation
window will be displayed on the screen and the user can select Yes or No.
Size
Change the picked profile (SCTN) to the selected value in the combo box. This function
only applies to a selected profile (SCTN) of support. Also, it affects the position
movement for an ancillary (ATTA/ FIXING), etc.
Change the picked profile (SCTN) to the selected value in the combo box. This function
applies to all profiles (SCTNs) of a selected support. Also, it affects the position
movement for ancillaries (ATTA/ FIXING), etc.
Input a length value and adjust the profile (SCTN) length. This function affects the
position of SCTN members. (for example SNOD, endcut FITT, etc.)
Pick a profile (SCTN) to adjust and a position to lengthen out the profile. The length of a
selected profile (SCTN) will be adjusted up to the picked point in the 3D graphical
window. This function affects the position move of SCTN members. (for example SNOD,
endcut FITT, etc.)
Add Profile
Create a profile (SCTN) using the AOS Profile Creation window. The Get Position by
EDG Picking, Get Position by Direction & Distance and Get Position by Ship Grid
functions are used to decide the start and end positions of a profile (SCTN) for new
profile creation.
To add a new profile (SCTN), there are totally six combinations available, i.e.
Picking + Direction & Picking (by using 1+1)
Picking + Direction & Distance value (by using 1+2)
Picking + Position controller (by using 1+3)
Position controller + Position controller (by using 3+3)
Position controller + Direction & Distance value (by using 3+2)
Position controller + Picking (by using 3+1)
The Get Position icon in each frame is to get start and end positions; when two position
values are taken, a profile (SCTN) can be created.
Get Position by Get the start and end positions with above Picking value.

installed in. When Pad size is smaller than the size of owner
profile and the pad type which is not fit for profile type in Pad Type
(1) is selected, the following message will be displayed.
Insert a snip (FITT) to a profile (SCTN). Pline to be referenced for profile picking will be
determined according to the profile type automatically.
Note: Generally a snip (endcut) is also defined in the frame templates (STRU), and the
user does not have to insert a snip separately. And the direction of support leg can
be changed according to an attaching hull element; in this case, the snip will be
corrected to fit for the defined frame templates, either on the leg or the span.
Delete unnecessary snips (FITT) in a profile (SCTN). The user should pick pline and the
profile (SCTN) side that the snip is referring.
Split Profile
Split profile(s). When splitting more than two profiles at a time, the direction of each
profile must be the same.
The user can spilt a selected profile(s) by using the plane of another element or moving the
reference plane to a position to move. The Model Editor can also be used to adjust the
position and angle of plane (RPLA).
Reference Plane Pick Plane (Button): Select a plane to split referring to the
direction of another element.
Merge Profiles
Merge two selected profiles into one. Those two must be paralleled side by side and be
same profile type. In addition, the justification line connecting POSS and POSE should be
the same, i.e. if the line is no linear, profiles cannot be merged.
Change Justification
Select Profile Select the support profile that the user wants to change
justification of profile. When the user selects the suitable profile,
current justification information is displayed on the screen via aid
line and text. And then the possible plines for chosen profile are
listed in the combo list.
Pick Pline Change the justification by picking the pline of the profile on the
screen. At the moment, changeable plines depend on the profile
type that the user selects.
Select Justification Select the pline of the profile that the user wants to
change.Whenever the user selects it, the profile shows the
changed justification on the screen.
Flip a single profile. According to profile type selected by the user, available plines that
the user can pick is automatically defined. The user can flip the profile itself that the user
picks or can flip with copying a new profile. Below example is for ANG profile.

can be input and its purpose will be NOTE. The note is displayed on a print-out drawing
afterward.
Delete SNOD
Delete unnecessary SNOD (for WELD, NOTE, disconnected JOINT, etc.) made during
support modification. But SNOD for JOINT such as rib plate and cutback should not be
deleted.
When Support Model is modified using Model Editor, STRU doesn't apply information of
changed Position and Orientation. Therefore, PVOL Element is added to Support Model
and information of Position and Orientation is also saved by using this function.
Note: etc. are the functions affecting the length of the support
profile. When the length of the profile get shorter and existent support components
(i.e. lifting lug (FITT), hole (FITT), weld mark (SNOD)) do not exist within the range of
profile length, AOS automatically deletes the components which will not be needed
any more.
Ancillary Manager
Pad Material: When Ancillary selected by User Selection has Sliding Pad,
Pad Material should be selected by the user.
To create a new ancillary without a framework, the user should select one
or multiple models and the profile (SCTN) as reference direction for the
ancillary. After selecting them, the Ancillary Position window will show up,
and the user can set the detailed position for the ancillary.
Name: Search and display the dummy support name to contain new
Ancillary at the storage ZONE automatically. The user can set a different
name temporarily.
Pick / Offset, Move Ancillary Forward / Backward: The user can pick a
position at their discretion. There are two options for offset.
Option 1: Set the offset value (from a picked Position) when picking a
position.
Options2: Input the value and use the backward and forward arrow
buttons.
ID Cursor: When picking a reference Element, align it with the origin point
of the picked element.
Apply: Create a new support with the input values in the Ancillary Position
function.
The following example is new ancillaries and its dummy support is created.
Note: Dummy Support cant be created by using bolt type ancillary of Cable Tray Support.
Query Ancillary and Pad: Load and display the information of a picked
ancillary, e.g. ancillary type, its material, etc.
Change into Sliding Pad [PSM]: Change an ancillary with sliding pad
into sliding pad only.
Note: Sliding Pad changes to the ancillary with Sliding Pad based on the first
created Type of Ancillary without checking Design Rule.
Move and align an ancillary with the direction of TUBE of PIPE for a picked support. This
function can be used in moving or copying a support and creating a special type support.
In case of changing an ancillary position manually, there may be an overlap or a gap of the
ancillary between the tube and the span on a support. When selecting span profile and
ancillary, AOS application precisely moves span profile to the installation position.
Move and align created ancillaries on support in zigzag. If the space between pipes is so
tight that the gap of ancillaries such as ubolt, strap or clamp on a support does not fit, this
function is very useful. The user should input the offset value for zigzag alignment.
Note: The function of Align Ancillary with Zigzag is not applied to Rail Type STAUFF
CLAMP. If necessary, it can be moved through Model Editor, Modify > Move or
Move function.
9 Utilities Tab
The application provides many useful functions for support design work. The user is able to
make more convenient and detailed support design via validating, measuring, clipping, etc.
for support models.
Support Manager
The user can easily and quickly review finished support model at a glance to avoid human
or design errors within the scan level. The user can change attributes related to a support
and extract the result in various formats, for example image, xls, etc. Further, via checking
the validations and clashes, the user can figure out invalid elements (for example out of
design rules, a clash with other elements, etc.) before drawing generation. Also information
of diverse components, including supports, can be extracted.
Note: Only relevant Outfitting Models in each Discipline are changed and the same
functions are provided. The next explanation is based on Pipe Support.
Scan Level Load all the supports that belong to a selected scan level. It is
limited to SITE, ZONE, STRU, FRMW, SCTN, FIXING, SNOD,
BRAN, PIPE and ATTA (In case of a member of PIPE, a liked
support will be used for a validation check).
If the input value is out of scan level, the below message will be
displayed:
Check Load all support data within a selected Scan Level and check
against predefined configurations, such as design rules, clash,
error, etc. Its overall result is displayed in the list.

A Outfitting Data
The next explanation is based on Pipe Support but also applies to Cable tray and HVAC.
Note: To create an ancillary without a support framework, the type XX can be used as a
dummy support to keep the consistency with other support types and to maintain its
association information.
In case of CSM-A01 and CSM-A02 type, Margin value between cable tray and leg profile is
managed in the attribute :AOSExtension of Support Template. Refer to the following
picture.
Endcut
The user can add or delete endcuts for support type templates if necessary. However, the
endcut created in the template only reflects existence and position of the endcut in the
support frame. The actual size of endcut is defined and reflected in design rule (Support
Type & Size).
Nominal Bore Size Data (/PSM-BORE-SIZE/APPDAR): Set nominal bore size applying to
the support design rule. Each bore size is saved as a real, metric and imperial unit. Nominal
bore size rule is defined by project, which is different from other support design rules
defined by support area.
