Bait Lit analysis

People go through a lot in life. Teens have to go through it everyday: broken

relationships, torture by relatives during childhood. Diego have these particular problems too, so

get ready to read this essay so you can get a better understanding of the text. He had sentencing

trials, and got put back in the detention center, because of another fight with a student by calling

him a faggot. Bait is about a mexican boy named Diego. Diego was emotional after what Mac

did to him before he shot himself dead into oblivion. The main problem of Diego is the shark in

his dreams in the water and anger issue. He talks to his PO Vidas and he helped him get over the

thoughts to relieve his anger. Sanchez teaches us to cope with emotional problems. Coping with

these issue are the best way to solve problems instead of giving up. Sanchez teaches his readers

that people have to cope with their emotions in order to live a positive life; Vidas met with Diego

to do a therapeutic technique that can help him let go of Mac.

going to counseling. But one night he got drunk and hit her again. That time I saw it.(Sanchez

153) Ariel have the same problems Diego went through and his struggles. So she decided to tell

him what she saw with her own eyes Just so diego can know what he compare to in Ariels story.

Even though this shows comparison of emotional problems. Diego must learn to cope with his

emotions and turn negative into positive reactions.

Diego has serious paranoia, this is causing his hallucinations or illusions to come to

reality for him. He is scared and frustrated of what happened to him before Mac commited

suicide. Diego stated, I think it was a shark or something. Not many sharks around here.

The fisherman gave him a sideways glance. Except maybe in your mind(Sanchez 168). Diego

is surely scared and stressed out that he have so much anger built up inside of him that it is

creating hallucinations that are after him after what had happened to him. nonetheless, it will

make Diego more stressed out as the images in his mind take over if he doesn't cope with

emotional thoughts.

Judge Ferrara talked to Diego about what the consequences of his actions for the same

reaction again. Judge Ferrara stated in the book, Detention hearing for assault and battery. He

adjusted his glasses and glanced at Diego, his eyes blinking with recognition. Oh, I remember

you. You're the smart aleck who told the court you should be on probation. Am I right?(Sanchez

125). This shows that Diego emotions for assaulting another person that called him gay. So it

was not any sense of remorse when he receive a sentence trial in jail, not probation.

Nevertheless, Diego needs to control his anger instead of taking it out on people. He needs to

face his fear and overcome the thoughts and hallucinations.

Sanchez teaches his readers to cope with their emotions in order to live a positive life.
