a) Salicylic acid is commonly found in plants, and are


used to regulate plant germination and flowering.
Additionally as a determinator for immune response
to pathogens.

Usage
Salicylic Acid is very commonly used as a treatment for patients with
acne. The reason is because it can help exfoliate (peel) the dead skin
cells that clog the pores and are the reason for the development of
acne. This also helps with dandruff that is why Salicylic Acid is also
found in some anti-dandruff shampoos. Sodium salicylate, the sodium
salt of Salicylic Acid has antibacterial properties, or applied on applied
on plants to protect them from bacteria. It is also commonly put in
toothpastes. Salicylic can react with acetic anhydride to produce
Aspirin.
