Different edits in an image are different layers.

from the mask and how you add a layer mask to a layer.
A layer mask is used to combine 2 images; you can hide portions of an image
by masking it with layer masks. To remove and or subtract you use the black
or white pen tool.

40. What is the importance of using a layer mask over the eraser tool?
The eraser tool and a layer mask work together, the eraser adds to the layer
mask or can even delete some parts of it if it switched from white to black.

41. What is a blending mode in Photoshop?


A blending mode in Photoshop is to edit an image using darken modes,
lighten modes, contrast modes, comparative modes and composite modes.

42. What is an adjustment layer in Photoshop?


A group of nondestructive editing tools that edit without permanently
changing the image.
