WHo is Howard Gardner
Howard Gardner is an American developmental psychologist. He is best known for
his theory of multiple intelligence.
What is multiple Intelligence theory?
The theory of multiple intelligences differentiates intelligence into specific
modalities, rather than seeing intelligence as dominated by a single general ability.
Howard Gardner proposed this model in his 1983 book Frames of Mind: The
Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
Visual-SPatial
These people think in pictures, relates well to space, and learns best by seeing
relationships. For children you can let them do hands on stuff.
logical-Mathematical
Refers to math ability. They like to use numbers,understand patterns. For children
you can let them play math games and let them make up their own math problems
musical
The ability to perform musically or to produce written music. People who are
highly skilled in musical intelligence think in musical patterns or see and hear
them and are able to manipulate them. For children you can have them make up
their own songs and let them play with musical instruments.
interpersonal
The se sensitivity one has towards others, the ability to work well with other
people, understand others, and assume leadership roles. For children you can have
them play in groups or do group work when learning.
intrapersonal
The accurate understanding of one's elf. The ability t act according to this
knowledge. For children you can let them play by themselves.
bodily-kinesthetic
Refers to the ability to use one's own body as a way of expression or to solve a
problem. For children you can have them play games or exercise.
linguistic
The use of language. These people have the ability to read,write, and talk to others.
Highly valued in school. For children you can have them read to the class or make
up sentences, and write stories
naturalistic
Used to discriminate among living things, such as plants or animals, as well as an
understanding of other features of the natural world, such as weather or geology.
For children you can go outside and play with leaves and sticks or have them build
things with things you find outside.
