Topic : Chemical Bonds
Sub Topic : Coordinate Covalent Bond
Allocation of Time : 30 Minutes

A. CORE COMPETENCIES

CC 1 : Appreciate and practice the teachings of religion.

CC 2 : Appreciate and practice the honest behavior, discipline, responsibility, caring
(gotong royong, cooperation, tolerance, peace), polite, responsive and pro-active
and displayed as part of the solution to various problems in interacting
effectively with the social and natural environment as well as in placing itself as
a reflection of the nation in the association world.
CC 3 : Understand, apply, analyze and evaluate factual knowledge, conceptual,
procedural, and metacognitive by curiosity about science, technology, art,
culture, and humanities with insights into humanity, nation, state, and
civilization-related causes of phenomena and events, as well as apply procedural
knowledge in a specific field of study according to their talents and interests to
solve the problem.
CC 4 : Processing, reasoning, serving, and create in the realm of the concrete and the
abstract realm associated with the development of learned at school
independently and act effectively and creatively, and are able to use the method
according to the rules of science.

B. BASIC COMPETENCIES
1.1 Recognizing the regularity of the structure of matter particles as a manifestation of
the greatness of Almighty God and the knowledge of the structure of matter
particles as a result of human creative thinking that its truth is tentative.
2.1 Exhibit behaviors responsive, and proactive and prudent as a manifestation of the
ability to solve problems and make decisions.
3.5 Comparing the process of the formation of ionic and covalent bonding, covalent
bond and metallic bond coordination and interaction between the particles (atoms,
ions, molecules) of matter and its relationship with the physical properties of the
material.
4.5 Processing and analyzing the comparison process of formation of ionic and covalent
bonding, coordinate covalent bonds, and metal bonding and interaction between
particles (atoms, ions, molecules) of matter and its relationship with the physical
properties of the material.

C. INDICATORS
1. Explain what is coordinate covalent bond with confidence
2. Describe the process of formation of coordination bonds on several compounds with
confidence
3. Know the difference between covalent bond and coordiate covalent bond and can
explain it properly
4. Identify coordinate covalent bonds on several compounds meticulously and
independently

D. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Through group discussions, students with curiosity can compare a covalent bond
with a coordinate covalent bond properly.
2. Through group discussions, students with curiosity can explain the formation of
coordinate covalent bonds correctly.
3. Through group discussions, students with confidence can explain and point out the
difference between covalent bond and coordinate covalent bond properly.
4. Through independent activity, students can meticulously identify coordinate covalent
bonds in several compounds properly.

E. LEARNING MATERIAL

COORDINATE COVALENT BOND

Not all covalent bonding that occurs, the electrons donations obtained from the
atoms that form the bond. Some molecules exist which comes from one electron pair one
atom, while the other atoms using electron pairs it to bond. NH 3 molecules have one pair
of electrons that has not been used together, while the H+ can receive one pairs of
electrons to be more stable because it has electron configuration of helium. Therefore, the
electron pairs it can be shared by NH3 molecules and ions H+ thus forming the ammonium
ion, NH4+. The bond between the H+ ions NH3 is also a covalent bond that called a
covalent bond coordination. The presence of coordinate covalent bonds marked with
arrows.

F. APPROACH / STRATEGY / LEARNING METHOD

Approach : Scientific
Model : Cooperative Learning
Methods : Group discussion, Lecture

G. MEDIA, EQUIPMENT AND SOURCES OF LEARNING

- Media : Computers, LCD

Chemistry Text Book for Class X
Discussion Sheet for students

H. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Allocation
Activity Description of Activities
of Time
Preliminary 1. Teacher opening the lesson with greeting and checking 5 minutes
students presence.
2. Teacher creates an religious atmosphere in class, with
encouraging students to pray first before the lesson
start.
3. Teacher deliver the learning objectives that will be
achieved.
4. Teacher asking student about their lesson before:
Students, do you remember our last meeting? What
weve talking about? Do you still remember about
covalent bond? Please explain it.
5. Teacher gives aperception to explore students'
knowledge by asking the question: Do you know
about Ammonia? When you added ammonia gasses
into acid solution (for ex: HCl), what will form? Do
you know the Lewis structure?
6. Teacher divide students into 4-5 groups and gives
instructure to students to watch a video about
coordination covalent bond
Main Observing 20
Activity 1) Teacher showing video about coordinate covalent minutes
bond infront of class.
2) Students with curiosity and carefully, review the
videos about coordinate covalent bond, the
teacher provides guidance.
Asking
Students logically asking teacher why electrons that
are used for bonding can be derived from one of
atoms? Why it is different with common covalent
bond?
Collecting Data
Students with curiosity and diligence, working with
their own group, look for examples of some of the
compounds that have covalent bonds, and examples
of some of the compounds have coordinate covalent
bonds and their lewis structures, then discussing the
difference.
Associating
1. Students with confidence and responsibility,
conclude the difference between covalent and
coordinate covalent.
2. Students with confidence, identify the
coordinate covalent bonding that occurs in a
compound independently.
Communicating
Students with confidence and responsibility, deliver
about the result of their discussion regarding the
coordinate covalent bonds in front of class, other
group giving their opinion about the groups answer.
Closing 1. Students are asked to give conclusions about what 5 minutes
they have learned independently and responsibly, the
teacher provides guidance and support.
2. Teacher give homework assignment in form of a few
questions related to the coordinate covalent bond.
3. Teacher assigns students to study the material for next
topic.
4. Teacher put an end to lesson by giving the message to
keep learning and close the lesson.

I. ASSESSMENT
a. Cognitive assessment
Cognitive assessment score will be determine by independent task.
