Eddy Duke

Unit overview - Victorian Curriculum, Level 3:


Throughout this unit students have explored the concept of solids, liquids
and gases. Students have participated in a range of different experiments
that explore different states of matter and their properties. Throughout this
process students have been encouraged to think deeply and reflect on
their learning before and after experiments supported by their
development of a science report. During the five lessons students have
documented their experiences using ICT and demonstrated collaborative
working skills. Through the development of hypothesising, investigating
and creative science reports students were able to create deeper
connections within their understanding of solids, liquids and gases.

Individual unit report:


Eddy has displayed great enthusiasm during this science unit, making him a
valuable and important group member. His fantastic inquiry skills were evident
What would happen during small group work, in effect the group benefited from his inquiry questions

Daniel Crockett

Individual unit report:


Daniel has been actively engaged throughout the unit and this was shown
through his excitement to participate in our small group experiments. When
working in a group environment Daniel is clearly able to articulate his new
understandings of states of matter using clear descriptions of his
observations. Daniel has been consistently willing to learn new ideas and
science terminology and this has made him a pleasure to teach.

Seth Hynes

Seth has consistently been a productive and forward thinking group member
throughout this science unit. This has been displayed through his ability to
successfully and independently complete his science report. Seths
enthusiasm for participating in experiments is reflected through the inquiry
questions he has presented to the group, these inquiry skills have assisted
Seth in making key learning links between the experiments and states of
matter.

Harryson Stubbs

Individual unit report:


Harryson has been such a pleasure to teach, his enthusiasm during this
science unit has made him a valuable team member. Harryson has made a
tremendous effort across the five weeks to improve on his use of science
terminology, this is evident from language choices he made during the
creation of his final science report. He is able to identify and describe a
range of liquids, solids and gases and actively worked to apply this
knowledge when completing science experiments.

Archie Jones

Archie has demonstrated his ability to efficiently follow the procedure of a
science experiment. This efficiency has made him a productive team member,
and allowed him the opportunity to make valuable learning links between the
experiments and states of matter. Archie has displayed his ability to reflect on
his learning by identifying at the conclusion of each lesson what he learnt,
what he enjoyed and what he would like to learn. Archie has been a pleasure
to teach.

Riley Hiscock

Riley has consistently shown enthusiasm during his participation in this
science unit, this was demonstrated through actions such as his willingness to
read out loud to the group. He has displayed his broad range of science
terminology through his completion of his science report and is able to
accurately identify a range of solids, liquids and gases. Riley worked hard to
collect and form his science report and was able to display his findings in an
effective manner.

Ned Sinclair

Ned has proven himself to be a positive and productive group member and this
has made him a pleasure to teach. Ned has displayed fantastic inquiry skills
through his consistent ability to question his discoveries during our small group
experiments. Ned has established a solid base of scientific terminology
throughout the unit which he has effectively used in group discussions with his
peers.

Sienna Newman

Sienna demonstrated her independent working skills, this was shown through
her motivation to efficiently complete all tasks required. Her ability to reflect on
her own learning made her a valuable team member, as she contributed
important information about what she had learnt, what she enjoyed and what
she wished to learn next. Sienna also completed her final science report to a
very high standard, showcasing her indepth knowledge of states of matter and
science terminology. It has been a pleasure to teach and learn from Sienna.

Molly Williams

Molly displayed her ability to work productively both interdependently and
independently. This made Molly a valuable and hard working group member.
Molly was able to display her wide range of science terminology through
discussions with her peers and completion of her final science report. She
demonstrated her inquiry skills throughout the unit and was able to make
important learning links between practical experiments and states of matter.

Hosanna has been a pleasure to teach, her enthusiasm during this science unit
has made her a valuable team member. Hosanna has made a tremendous effort
across the five weeks to improve on her use of science terminology, this is evident
from language choices made during the creation of her final science report. She is

worked to apply this knowledge when completing science experiments. Hosanna
showed tremendous growth over the course of this unit and took a particular liking
to growing her science vocabulary through group discussions.
