SEVEN MENTAL LAWS

Overview

This program is founded on the premise that you are a mental creature. Your
mind makes you truly unique from all other creatures and there are certain
mental laws that determine everything that happens to you. These laws work
100% of the time.

Every single success in your life comes from living your life in harmony with
these basic mental laws. Every problem and difficulty in your life comes from
living your life out of harmony with these mental laws.

1. The Law of CONTROL .

a) You feel POSITIVE about yourself to the degree to


which you feel you are in control of your own life.

b) You feel NEGATIVE about yourself to the degree to


which you feel you are not in control of your own life.

UNLOCKING YOUR POTENTIAL

Overview

Everything that you do in life is 85% attitudinal 85% of your success is de-
termined by your attitude. Your attitude is the outward expression of what is
going on internally. If your attitude is positive, then your approach to life, your
work, your relationships, and your problems will be positive. Thus, your at-
titude has a powerful positive influence on your potential. When you improve
your attitude, you automatically increase your capabilities.

Key Points

1. The formula for human potential is:

IA + AA x A = Individual Human Potential

2. ATTITUDE has been called the most important word in


the human language.

3. Eighty-five percent (85%) of your success will be determined by how


much of a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) you have.

create our attitudes.

5. Our expectations come from our BELIEFS and


our VALUES .

6. Each of us has a bundle of beliefs which psychologists call the


SELF-CONCEPT .

The self-concept is the COMMAND center of your life.

7. The upper and lower limits of your self-concept form your


comfort zone.

Our overall self-concept is an average of all of our individual


self-concepts.

8. The self-concept is made of three critical parts:

1) The self- IDEAL . It is your idea of what constitutes


a WINNER .

2) Your self- IMAGE . It is the way you see


yourself and the way you THINK about yourself.

3) Your self- ESTEEM .


It is how you FEEL about yourself.

The best definition of self-esteem is how much you


LIKE yourself.

Your self-esteem can be built up by repeating over and over:

I LIKE MYSELF !

9. You are born as pure POTENTIAL .

Every child comes into the world with a high need for LOVE

and TOUCHING .

Children are born with two attributes:

1) They are FEARLESS , and that is expressed with


the attitude, I CAN !

10. Children learn in two ways:

1) They learn by IMITATION ,


especially of PARENTS .

2) They learn by moving from DISCOMFORT

toward COMFORT .

Very early in life, children begin to develop negative habit patterns,


which have their roots in DESTRUCTIVE criticism.

Destructive criticism is used by parents to DIRECT

and CONTROL their children.

11. Early in life, children develop two major types of negative habit patterns:

1) INHIBITIVE Negative Habit Pattern. This pattern


triggers the response of, I CANT which creates
the fear of FAILURE .

2) COMPULSIVE Negative Habit Pattern.

This pattern develops when children receive CONDITIONAL

love.

Children respond with I HAVE TO please other


people.

This compulsive negative habit pattern creates the fear of


REJECTION .

This fear of rejection is experienced by adults as TYPE A

behavior.

12. If you repeat over and over, I LIKE MYSELF ,


your self-esteem increases and your fears will diminish.

Overview

Your subconscious mind is the powerhouse of your being, and the source of
your ability to greatly exceed your previous levels of accomplishment. To tap
into this powerhouse you must understand the function of the conscious and
subconscious and how they interact.

1. The conscious mind has specific features:

1) It is OBJECTIVE .

2) It is RATIONAL .

3) It is DISCRIMINATING .

The subconscious mind has four functions:

1) It IDENTIFIES incoming data.

2) It COMPARES it with previous experience.

One of the roles of the subconscious mind is to STORE

The SUBCONSCIOUS mind merely obeys.

The conscious mind is the GARDENER ;


the subconscious mind is the GARDEN .

Either FLOWERS or WEEDS

will grow.

3. A key role of the subconscious mind is to keep your behavior


CONSISTENT with your previous behaviors.

4. The Law of SUBCONSCIOUS ACTIVITY .

This law makes all of your words and actions fit a pattern consistent

TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE

Overview

Self-responsibility means accepting the fact that you are the architect of your
destiny. Everything you are and ever will be is up to you and you alone. If
you wish to achieve your full potential as a human being, it is imperative that
you accept complete responsibility for your life.

1. One of the most important decisions you ever make is to move from
CHILD TO ADULT .

2. The slogan of the totally responsible person is:

3. Henry Ford said: Never complain, never EXPLAIN .

4. There is a deep valley between maturity and immaturity called the

ELIMINATING NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

Overview

The great aim in life is to be happy, however you define happiness. The major
obstacles to your happiness are negative emotions. There is a one-to-one re-
lationship between your acceptance of personal responsibility for everything
that happens to you and the elimination of negative emotions.

2. The Negative Emotion Tree

3. There are two essential factors that create negative emotions and keep
them alive:

1) JUSTIFICATION the belief that you are entitled


to your negative emotions.

2) IDENTIFICATION taking things personally.

4. How do we starve the roots of the Negative Emotion Tree?

1) We become NON-JUDGEMENTAL .
Judge not that ye be not judged.

2) We dis- IDENTIFY . Practice detachment.

5. The key to ridding yourself of negative emotions is to cut down


the trunk of the tree by eliminating BLAME ,
which lies at the root of 99% of negative emotions.

6. Nothing and no one MAKES YOU ANGRY ;


this is a decision you make.

7. Eliminate blame and negative emotions by using the Law of


SUBSTITUTION .

Replace the blame thought with this affirmation

Overview

Worry something we all experience from time to time is negative imagi-


nation. It is what you create in yourself that causes you stress and anxiety. It
creates fear or fantasized experiences that appear real. Fortunately, worry
is a conditioned response you have learned to worry, and you therefore can
eliminate the behavior.

Key Points

1. Negative IMAGINATION is thinking about things we


dont want to happen that cause enormous amounts of stress and distress.

Worry creates FEAR , which can be defined as


Fantasized Experiences Appearing Real.

2. WORRY is a sustained form of fear caused by


INDECISION .

3. A study was done on the things people worry about:

40 % of the worries people had never happened.

Therefore, research shows that 96 % of what we worry


about is a waste of emotion.

2) Get the FACTS .

Overview

Today, at least 80% of all the ailments we suffer are psychologically caused.
Stress and tension are the culprits and are the outward manifestations of our
unhappiness with some aspect of our lives. What is often not understood is
that stress and tension come from within us, not from without. A stressful
situation does not exist there are only stressful reactions to a situation, which
are expressed with negative emotions. To achieve higher levels of energy and
happiness, inner peace, loving relationships, and longevity, we must eliminate

We know that stress, tension, and negative emotions are subject to cause and
effect that there are conditions that predispose us to being negative. If you
can identify those conditions, you are much more able to eliminate them and
thus maintain a high quality of inner peace in your life.

1. There are six primary conditions that cause us to feel stress and tension.

1) A lack of MEANING and PURPOSE

in life.

Human beings need to feel that their lives have

Overview

The power of love is enormous. Absolutely everything we so in life is to get


love or to compensate for the lack of love. Abraham Maslow has said that the
measure of mental health is a persons ability to enter into long-term, intimate,
loving relationships with others. But what exactly makes a successful relation-
ship? If our relationships arent successful, how can we guide them so that
they become the crown jewel of our emotional life?

Key Points

1. There are six keys to a successful, happy relationship:

1) SIMILARITIES attract.

Similarities attract in almost all areas, but especially in the areas


of VALUES , CHILDREN , money,
SEX , and leisure time.

When you meet the person who is right for you, there is a
CHEMISTRY .

scale of 1 to 10?

5) LIKING RESPECT .
These two feelings are more important than being
IN LOVE .

The BEST FRIEND Test: If you are ideally suited to


your mate, your mate will be your best friend.

6) COMMUNICATIONS .

Good communications require time

1) Lack of COMMITMENT .

A lack of commitment is often expressed in a TRADING

relationship.

The key to resolving this is for each person to make a 100 %


commitment to the relationship.

2) Trying to CHANGE the other. What you see is

3) JEALOUSY .

It comes from this feeling of low self-esteem: Im not good

Self-pity is rooted in low self- ESTEEM .

The solution for self-pity is to GET BUSY .

Those who have a worthwhile PURPOSE in life do not experience


self-pity.

Set clear, specific GOALS for yourself.

5) INCOMPATIBILITY .

Incompatibility has entered the relationship when:

1. LAUGHTER stops.

2. CONVERSATION stops.

3. FRIENDSHIP stops.

Everyone wonders about the purpose of life and why we are here. The true
purpose of life is to find a mission and to fulfill our mission. In order to de-
termine just what our mission is, we must become truly loving people. By
practicing the principles that lead us to becoming loving individuals, we will
be drawn toward our mission and our area of service.

Your hands are on your lap but not touching each other/ just resting comfort-

Law of Accident By failing to plan, you plan to fail.

Law of Accumulation Every single thing you do, positive or negative,

Law of Emotion Every decision you make is based on emotion.


A stronger emotion will dominate a weaker emotion
and will determine your decisions and actions.

Law of Expectations What you expect is what you get. You do not get
what you want but what you expect.

Law of Expression Whatever is impressed is expressed. Whatever is


impressed into your subconscious for whatever reason
and from whatever source, whatever is mixed with
emotion and dropped into your subconscious, will
eventually be expressed as part of your personality
a part of your reality.

Law of Forgiveness You are mentally healthy to the degree to which you
can forgive and forget grievances against you. Your
willingness to forgive others and to let go of past
grievances is the single most important determinant
of whether or not you are a fully integrated, fully
functioning human being.

Law of Habit In the absence of a specific decision on your part to


change some aspect of your life, the natural tendency
will be to go on the same way indefinitely. Ninety-

Law of Indirect Effort In our relationships with other people, we have a


tendency to get what we want faster indirectly than
directly.

Law of Overcompensation Always do more than you are paid forgo the extra
mile.

Law of Practice Whatever you do over and over again often


enough becomes a new habit. A new habit takes
approximately 21 to develop.

Law of Relaxation In all mental working, effort defeats itself. The harder
you don't try, the better it works.

Law of Return Whatever you contribute in terms of service you will


get back in terms of rewards, tangible and intangible.

Law of Reversibility The objective reality creates the subjective


(emotional) state. If you can create artificially the
subjective state (the feeling), the feeling will trigger
the Laws of Attraction and Correspondence and will
draw into your life the people, circumstances, and
opportunities necessary to create the objective that is
consistent with the subjective. Whatever you do to
raise the self-esteem of someone else, simultaneously
boosts your own.

Law of Service You will always be rewarded in life in exact


proportion to the value of your service to other
peopleto your customers. Your return will always
equal your service.

Law of Sowing and Reaping You always reap exactly what you sow, in life,
business, and relationships. The quality of your
relationships at any given moment is a result of what
you have sown in those relationships.

Law of Subconscious Activity The Subconscious Mind goes to work immediately


on whatever you plant in your mind to bring it into
reality. The Subconscious Mind makes all words and
action fit a pattern consistent with your self-concept
and your dominant goals.

Law of Superconscious Any thought, plan, goal, or idea that you can hold
Activity in your conscious mind on a continuous basis and that
you intensely desire or intensely fear, must be brought
into your reality by your Superconscious Mind.
Whether positive or negative, good or bad, if you hold
it continuously, emotionalize it, and visualize it in
your conscious mind, the Super-conscious Mind will
begin to organize the entire universe of experience
around you to draw into your life the people and
circumstances necessary to make that idea come true.

Law of Substitution The conscious mind can hold only one thought
a time, positive or negative. You can replace a
negative thought with a positive thoughtyou can
replace a thought of what you don't want with a
thought of what you do want.

Law of Use Whatever talent, ability, or gift you possess becomes


stronger and better with exercise. If you don't use it,
you lose it.
