Comprehensive Training Programme on State-of-the-Art Practices of BIM with Revit Structures

We are pleased to inform you that Structural Design Institute has organised a three-months
Comprehensive Training Programme on "State-of-the-Art Practices of BIM with Autodesk Revit Structures"
starting from basics to an advanced level.

What is BIM?
Building information modeling (BIM) is the state-of-the-art global trend of approaching the design and
documentation of building projects.
Building - the entire lifecycle of the building is considered (design/build/operations)
Information - all information about the building and its lifecycle is included
Modeling - defining and simulating the building, its delivery, and operation using integrated tools

Why BIM?
BIM is the state-of-the-art design approach and a global trend in construction industry. In Singapore BIM
is already compulsory and in Europe and in many other countries BIM will be a compulsion from next year
onwards. As construction professionals of the Country we need to be well equipped with the cutting-edge
technologies like BIM, in order to lead the Sri Lankan Construction Industry to an International Level.
BIM provides several major advantages over traditional design approaches: BIM Models and manages not
just graphics, but also information information that allows the automatic generation of drawings and
reports, design analysis, schedule simulation, facilities management, and more ultimately enabling the
building team to make better-informed decisions. BIM supports a distributed team so that people, tools,
and tasks can effectively share this information throughout the building lifecycle.

Overview of BIM Course of Structural Design Institute:

Designed for those with no prior knowledge of Revit, and will introduce participants to the concept of
Building Information Modelling (BIM) and give hands-on practice with Revits tools for design, analysis,
and documentation. Afterwards, theyll be able to use Autodesk Revit Structure to create and analyse a
project, and produce construction documentation and design visualisation.

For whom?
Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers who intend to be competent in state-of-the-art practices of BIM.

Resource Person : Eng. Tharanga Pradeep

Duration : Three-months

Time : Twelve consecutive Saturdays (9.30 pm to 12.30 pm)

Course Fee : Rs. 20,000 per month

Other Benefits:
A comprehensive set of notes shall be given
Small groups with individual attention
Starting from basics and gradually covered advanced topics with extensive training
Participation certifications shall be awarded after successful completion of the course

Course Outline:
This course covers the basics of Autodesk Revit Structure. Users are introduced to the concepts of Building
Information Modeling and the tools for parametric design, analysis, and documentation. They learn the
fundamental features of Autodesk Revit Structure, learn to use the 3D parametric design tools for creating
and analysing a project, and finish with construction documentation and design visualisation.
