Assignment 11B term 2 Functions

1. Make sure your definition are mathematics related, well presented,

2. If printed in black and white, make sure its readable (label equations etc)

3. If using variables such as , make sure to define them

4. Vertex is a point therefore has x and y coordinates

5. When printing LOGO and angry bird, make sure its readable and well presented

6. LOGO design, make sure to show your working out for each function.

7. No use of I, we, us... By looking at the graph, it can be seen that... (not we can see, I did
this...)

8. Simplify expressions/fractions
9. Use wording from the criteria sheet (play the system well) such as validation, justification,
parameters, limitations, assumptions + EFFECTS, synthesising (creating) models, evaluating,
analysing...

10. All your working out should look like normal maths setting out... easy to understand, same
symbols

11. Format should be clear and easy to follow. You can label your step, highlight important
parts/data or underline or bold them.
12. Technology is there to help you graph not find equations for you. All working out should be
done algebraically

13. Make sure when you are writing mathematical symbols, equations, expression you're using
the equation tool in word. But also, do not use the equation formatting for simply writing

14. Try to show off as many skills as you can ROUTINE/SIMPLE to UNFAMILIAR/COMPLEX
by using different types of formats for the quadratics and find out more for yourself about
other types of equations.

15. Check spelling, make your mum/dad read through it especially if they have little knowledge
so they can focus on spelling for you and the structure of your phrases. Some people have
half sentences... or just doesn't make sense (double words....please reread your work). No
contractions aren't=are not.

16. Use appropriate language - dilation is a vague word, try to be more precise, domain, range

17. If comparing graphs/functions, put them on the same graph/scale...easier to compare and
make a point

18. Reference your work

19. Task 1b - explain in after each dot point/graph what happened then at the end make a
summary for each letter/parameter
20. Task 1c - explain which of the 3 parameters (a, h and/or k) has/have an influence on the
three key features: axis, y-intercept and vertex. Show graphically and algebraically.

21. Number your pages, already one draft was not stapled together and I struggled to put it back
together.
22. Use the same font for your whole assignment

23. Introduce each task briefly/angry bird game, explain what you are doing and why.. not just
maths....

24. Task 3: Do a, h and K have the same "jobs/roles/effects" in your chosen function than the
studied quadratics function? Part 2: Write general formula with parameters for each type of
function and validate them.

25. Make sure your snipped graphs are dark enough to read once printed and also that we see
your functions' equations completely.
