To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for Nanci Sandoval. Mrs. Sandoval is a
student and family advocate whom I have had the pleasure of supporting. Nanci currently works as a
bilingual assistant in our ESL Department. Quatama is a diverse school with many competing needs and
valuable strengths. Among them are high mobility about 20%, approximately 40% of our students
receive Free and Reduced lunch services; we have over 20 languages actively spoken in our homes, we
also support a K-6 Life Skills Program with a focus with an inclusive service model. An educators ability
to build community is imperative and Nanci works hard to exemplify this.

A specific example: as an administrative substitute for the Quatama prior to becoming the
Principal, I collaborated with Nanci to support a single parent home with a sixth grader who struggled
through depression and thoughts of hopelessness. Nanci was an amazing advocate, staying late and
ensuring a struggling household received the services they needed. Nanci continued to mentor the
student moving forward. Nanci also works through the summer supporting communities visiting from
China.

Nancis strengths include:

Understanding the unique dynamics of our community
Flexibility - her willingness to make phone calls to families as needed, when needed
Initiative - often, Nanci will bring a need to our teams attention
Supporting newcomer families
A positive, compassionate, welcoming demeanor to all those who enter our school community

Nanci Sandoval is an asset to our school community, a knowledgeable, inclusive educator supporting
