1.1 TMD412 TMA/TMD TOWER MOUNTED DUPLEXER

Description
The TMD412 is a combined Tower Mounted Duplexer and RX Amplifier to be used with the
BS41x Base Stations.

The TMD412 contains two RX Amplifiers and a Duplex Filter, which can be used to combine
the TX Antenna feeder and one of the RX connections to a single antenna. The use of the
Duplex Filter option is provided by an external removable jumper.

The RX Amplifier part of the TMD412 is a mandatory part of the BS41x and shall normally be
tower mounted close to the antennas. When tower mounted make sure that the plate with the
sockets is positioned downwards. If tower mounting is not possible, it can be ground mounted
at the BS location.

The Amplifier part of the TMA412 contains two double directional couplers for the RFTL test
feature, two low-loss highly selective input filters and two low-noise high dynamic range
amplifiers built with PHEMT transistors. DC feed and RFTL direction control is provided from
the AI411 Antenna Interface Unit in the BS. The two RX antenna connections are galvanic
grounded in the filter for lightening protection. The three BS feeder connections with DC are
provided with lightening arrestors for protection.

The Duplexer Part of the TMD412 is optimised for low loss and extremely low inter-
modulation distortion.

The TMD412 is sealed for IP65 encapsulation. Due to the sealing being completely airtight,
a pressure equalizing valve is inserted to ensure pressure compensation with temperature
change.

The TMD412 is provided with a flexible mounting plate, which can be either wall- or mast-
mounted. For mast up to 50mm diameter and normal weather conditions, the normal
delivered fixtures can be used. For thicker masts and extreme weather conditions, e.g. in
arctic areas with icing and heavy wind loads, creation of special rugged mounting fixtures for
the mounting plate is recommended. More information can be seen in the Application note

The TMD412 is as standard factory tested in the standard BS temperature range 20 to +55
Celsius. Optionally it is also available in an extended temperature version tested for
-55 to +70 Celsius.

Note, that when using the duplex filter option, care shall be taken not to use TX frequencies
generating 5th order IM products on the used RX frequencies.
