Dear Church Family,
As I write this article, school will be out in a few days. It will be another long, hot
summer. One man just told me that this kind of weather is what brought him here.
Bless him.

We just had our AWANA end-of-the-year program. I appreciate Clay and Julie
Brantley, Directors of that ministry for their willingness to lead, and to all those
other leaders for their faithfulness. But I especially want to give a great BIG thanks
to one special lady, Gwen Greenway, for her 30 years of serving in AWANA. She
is an example of faithfulness in using her God given abilities and gifts of service to
our Lord through her church. Gwen, thank you for a job well done!

I also want to thank Morris Beam for his work. He has been cleaning up, setting
shrubbery, and doing a lot of painting, both inside and outside around the church
properties. It sure is a lot cleaner and brighter in places because of his effort. When
you see him, give him a word of thanks and let him know you appreciate him.

With summer here, many of you will be out some Sundays. Take time for rest and
relaxation with family and friends. But when you are in town, be here to support
your church, with your attendance and finances. Our financial obligations will
continue even in summer. Gods plan of finance for the church is through the tithes Inside this issue:

Vacation Bible School starts in a couple of weeks. Please be praying for our
workers, as well as the children and families that will be attending. Pray that some Vacation Bible School 2
will come to know Jesus as Savior and at the very least, seeds will be planted for
future harvest. It will be a fun week! Childrens Ministry 3

On Sunday mornings I have begun a series of messages, Faith Works, from the
Student Ministry 4
book of James. James is a very practical book, as he instructs and encourages us to
live out our faith. I hope you will be here to participate in that study.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

JUNE 5-9, 2017 - TIME: 5:30=8:30 PM

As kids focus their telescopes on the marvels painted in the sky by the Creator, they will discover
the wonder among all wonders, that the God who created everything there is - the knowable and
the unknowable, the visible and the invisible, wants a personal relationship with them!

Here are several specific things you can pray for as we prepare for Vacation Bible School:

1. Pray for the teachers, volunteers, and workers who will serve during VBS. Ask God to
receive their hours of preparation as a pleasing offering and for the Holy Spirit to be at work
in and through them.
2. Pray for the children who will attend VBS and the families they represent. Ask God to
begin preparing their hearts to respond to the Good News they will hear at VBS. Pray for their
physical safety and emotional well-being during the week.
3. Pray for those who are unchurched in your community who will join your church for VBS. Ask
God to soften your own heart and the hearts of your congregation to welcome, serve, and build
relationships with everyone who enters your doors.
4. Pray for those who will share the gospel during VBS and those who will follow-up with
children, students, adults, and families. Ask the Holy Spirit to give them clarity, guidance, and
discernment.
Be sure to register for Galactic Starveyors (VBS). Registration forms are available in the
Childrens Department and the office.

CHURCH-WIDE VBS PRAYER GUIDE

Sunday, June 4: Pray for a shield of protection
around VBS. Ask God to protect all who attend and Join us for our SUMMER FUN!
provide for a safe week and pray for VBS workers
involved with the preparation and planning aspects.

Monday, June 5: Ask God to help the children who

attend VBS to increase in wisdom concerning His
Word (Luke 2:52).

Tuesday, June 6: Pray for ALL Leaders to effectively
communicate Gods love to the children they teach
(1 John 4:19) and ask for stamina and strength.
Wednesday, June 7: Ask God to keep discouragement
from interfering with His plan for VBS. Pray for the
gospel to be heard clearly by the students.
Thursday, June 8: Pray that God will strengthen all
the children and workers to follow the plan He has
for them (Philippians 4:13).
Friday, June 9: Thank God for sending the Holy Spirit
to be our counselor. Ask that kids will hear His voice
guiding them (John 14:26).
Saturday, June 10: Pray for those making follow-up
visits to clearly share the gospel and for people to
actually go!

WHO: All children 1st - 6th welcome
(Preschoolers welcome if parent is attending
Wed Night class or is a volunteer worker.)

Dear Church Family,

First of all, congratulations to all of our graduating high school and college seniors, Class of
2017! We are extremely proud of your accomplishments, and I look forward to seeing what will
become of you in the future. Always remember that the Lord has a plan for you, and you can
always rely on Him.
For I know the plans I have for you,
you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to har you, plans to give you hope and a
f t re.

June is upon us, and VBS is here! Also, dont forget that June 5th-9th is this years VBS dates;
and we will need all the help we can get! Please be aware of the time change. Instead of having
VBS in the morning hours, this year the time will be from 5:30-8:30 PM. If you havent done so
already, please prayerfully consider how you can participate in this years VBS. Scripture is very
clear when it comes to our responsibilities to our children: Train up a child in the way he should
go, and when he is old he will not depart from it, (Proverbs 22:6).
Remember, both children and youth scrutinize what we do much more than what we say. What
kind of legacy are you leaving behind for the younger generation? If you have any questions
about enrolling or serving in this years VBS, please get in touch with either Mrs. Laura, Pastor
Darrol, or myself at the office so that we can plug you in for the glory of God!
In closing, I would just simply ask again that you continue to pray our students into this camp
experience. I cant stress enough just how important it is for our group to have that foundation of
prayer before we even reach the campus on Lake Yale. I know this is a praying church, and I
have no doubt that this camp experience will impact our students in ways that will change their
lives forever.
