I. God has begun a good work in you (in believers).

A. You instantaneously became a Christian.
1. All of the Christians in Philippi were saints.
2. The work begun refers to the past tense when Christ began the work of
salvation in you.
B. You are gradually being changed to become like Christ.
1. That is the goal according to Rom 8:29 - ...He also predestined to be
conformed to the image of His Son.
2. This is a process; it takes time and effort achieve.
We are called to work out your own salvation (Phil 2:12).

II. God will complete the good work.

A. The sad news: it wont be completed in this lifetime.
Example: the apostle Paul - Phil 3:12-14.
B. The good news: we will one day be like Christ (1 Jn 3:2).

III. This gives us confidence.

A. While it is impossible to be perfect in this life, it is not impossible to mature.
- knowledgeable in the Word
- Christ-like character
- competent to serve
- discern good from evil
B. When we fail to be perfect, God is not done with us yet.
Your failures dont stop the processthey only slow it down.
C. The good work is tested and proven in the experiences of life.
Being obedient is the road to maturity (to being Christ-like).

As a saint you are under construction. The blueprint shows that you are to be like Jesus.
The reality is that there is more work to do.
