Dear Baltimore National Aquarium,

As a highly motivated and dedicated student with strong communication and interpersonal skills, I
would like to apply for the position of an intern.

As a student I have been extensively involved in my school community, which has allowed me to
develop strong interpersonal skills. My involvement in various events, including the Mount Hebron
Varsity Basketball Team and Diving PADI Certification, has allowed me to work closely with my peers
while supporting the school community as a whole.

These experiences have allowed me to develop strong time management and organisational skills,
which I see as being very important when seeking to work as an intern while continuing to study.

Personal attributes that I believe make me suitable for this position include:

Motivation: Volunteer participation and school results demonstrate high motivation.

Dedication: Playing on the basketball team has taught me team skills, hard work and
dedication to working hard to see results.
Diving Experience: Having diving experience and PADI certification leads me to have
knowledge on marine life, the ocean, and safety.
Communication: I have gained communication skills from interacting with divers around the
world, learning the play with others on my basketball team, and working with my peers in
school.
My teachers and educators have commended me for my willingness to participate and my dedication
to helping out where possible. I enjoy working with others and believe that my strong
communication skills will ensure that I can meet the expectations of this role.

Graduation: June 2019, Mount Hebron High School (Ellicott City, Maryland)
GPA: 4.43
Relevant Coursework: Completed courses in Independent Research G/T, Biology G/T, and
Chemistry.

Research Experience
Conducted an independent study entitled The Decline of Coral Reefs: Is it Our Fault? under the
guidance of advisor Dr. Melissa Kiehl.
Composed a synthesis paper based on current literature
Conducted survey to find out students knowledge on reefs.
Created final product infographic to publicize the reef decline.

Achievements
2016: Received Woman of the World award for exceptional work in helping empower
women.
2016: Received Woman of Tomorrow award for exceptional work in the community and
helping others.
2016, 2017: Received Mount Hebron High School Honor Roll award for exceptional grades of
all As.
