d. Products

The Atmospheric River (AR) Portal and the AR Landfall Tool:

Contributed to the development of real-time updating NCEP GFS and GEFS-based online forecast
products and decision support services pertaining to atmospheric rivers developed at PSU that were
ultimately merged with and now run at the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes
(CW3E) at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD. See Cordeira et al. (2017, BAMS).
I am actively involved in website and forecast product development with CW3E.
One of the more popular tools improves situational awareness for extreme precipitation along the
U.S. West Coast is known as the AR Landfall Tool that provides probabilistic forecasts of AR
conditions along the U.S. West Coast; see http://cw3e.ucsd.edu/iwv-and-ivt-forecasts/

PSU Lightning Alerts:

Developed an automated messaging service on the PSU Meteorology server that alerts PSU Athletics
coaches and staff with lightning proximity alerts via text messaging.

Portable CoCoRaHS Rain Gauges:

Supervised student-development of portable CoCoaRaHS-style rain gauges for use during local field
studies of orographic precipitation gradients in the White Mountains.

PSU WRF Model:

Developed and maintain real-time updating Weather Research and Forecasting model forecasts, data
analysis, and display (in progress; see http://vortex.plymouth.edu/~j_cordeira/WRF/sfc.html)
