BEFORE YOU BEGIN
I recommend reading through the directions before beginning. You will also need to cut all remaining
thread after completing each stitch, except when you baste stitch. You can leave pins in as you sew, I
like to remove them as I go.

HOW TO PRINT
In order to print, first download the file and open with Adobe Reader. Choose File, then
Print, set Page Scaling to "None", and click ok. To ensure quality printing, you may also
want to choose Photo or Best Photo under the Print Properties menu. All printers are
different, so you may need to select the page that has the test square on the pattern and
print that page only, first. If the test square measures 1x1, then your current printer
setting is fine for this printable pattern. If it does not, try another printing option for your
printer.

HOW MUCH FABRIC YOU WILL NEED

The fabric amounts that I am giving you are assuming you are using fabric that has a
crosswise grain of 42-44 inches.

Step 1: How to make your pattern pieces and cutting your fabric
a) To make your pattern pieces, tape the paper together using the
matching colored dots and place them on top of each other so that
they overlap and all the lines match up. More directions are on your
pattern pieces if needed. Using a light source, such as a window, is
usually helpful. Another way to match up the lines and overlap your
dots is by cutting just under the dots before you try overlapping
them.

If the pattern says fold of fabric here, then you will need to fold
the fabric in half and place the folded section where it states on the
pattern. Cut around the three sides, not where the fold is.

b) What you will need: 1 Top Section and 1 medium weight interfacing
for the top section, 1 middle section, 1 bottom section, 1 back piece
and medium weight interfacing for the back piece, two bow strips and
two lightweight interfacing for the bow strips, 1 pocket flap and 1
lightweight interfacing for the pocket flap, 1 pocket and 1 lightweight
interfacing for the pocket, two pieces of ric rac, 1 long piece of
ribbon, 1 dowel 3/8 x 12, and Velcro.

Step 2: Ironing
a) Fuse the medium weight interfacing to the wrong sides of the back
piece and the top section. Press the top sections sides in
towards the wrong side. Sew the two sides down using an edge stitch
about in on both sides where you pressed, (bs) when beginning and
ending. Next, press the top section in half lengthwise, wrong sides
together and set aside for now.

b) Fuse the lightweight interfacing to the wrong sides of the pocket flap
and pocket piece. Press both pieces in half lengthwise.

c) Fuse the lightweight interfacing to the wrong sides of the bow strips.
Fold the bow strips in half lengthwise, right sides together and sew
the open ends together using a seam allowance, (bs) when beginning
and ending. Press the seams open, turn the fabric right side out and
press it so that the seam is in the center.

Step 3: Sewing
a) To make the pocket, fold the pocket flap piece in half lengthwise,
right sides together, and sew the two short sides using a seam
allowance, (bs) when beginning and ending. Turn it right side out and
press.

b) To make the pocket, place the bottom section right side up, and place
the pocket piece on top, raw ends together, keeping the pocket folded
in half. Sew the pocket to the bottom section using a 3/8 seam
allowance, (bs) when beginning and ending.

c) Center your pocket flap at the top of the bottom section, raw ends
together, leaving equal spacing on both sides. Sew the flap to the
bottom section using a 3/8 seam allowance, (bs) when beginning and
ending.

d) Cut the amount of Velcro that you want to use pin one part of the
Velcro to the pocket and the other to the flap so that they would line
up and stick together. Sew them in place, (bs) when beginning and
ending. Set the pocket aside for now.

e) Get the bow strips and use a ruler and a fabric pen to draw a line down
the center of both bow strips on the side without the seam showing.
Also draw a line 3 in from both sides of the middle section piece.

f) Line up the bow strips line and the middle sections lines. The seam
line of the bow strip should be towards the right side of the middle
sections fabric so that it is hidden. Sew down the center of the bow
strip, (bs) when beginning and ending. Repeat for the other strip. You
can then place the ric rac onto the center of the bow strip and sew it
on as well, (bs).

g) Place the pocket onto the middle section, right sides together, and
the raw end of the pocket flap should be lined up with the raw end of
the middle section. Sew the two pieces together using a seam
allowance, (bs) when beginning and ending. Press the seam down
towards the pocket fabric, turn the fabric over, open the flap up, and
sew a top stitch just below the seam line to help the fabric lay flat.

h) If you want loops on the sides for headbands, cut six 3 strips of
ribbon or ric rac, fold them in half, and space them evenly on both
sides of the middle strip and pin in place. Leave one of the loops off in
the center on one of the sides to place in later. You will need to leave
this side open to turn your fabric right side out later.

i) Keep the top section folded in half and place it onto the middle
section, raw sides together, and make sure that it is centered, pin in
place. Place the back section onto the top of the middle section, right
sides together and pin around the sides.

Sew the two pieces together, starting 1/3 of the way down on one of the
sides, the pivot and sew around the other three sides, then 1/3 down the
side you started on and stop, leaving a 4-5 opening, (bs) when beginning and
ending. Clip your corners and turn it right side out and press. Tuck in the
fabric on the opening and place in the loop that you left off and sew down
the sides of the middle section only, (bs) when beginning and ending.

j) Sew 1 in across the top of the top section, (bs) when beginning and
ending. Thread your ribbon through with a safety pin and put in your
dowel. Tie your ribbon into a bow and your bow hanger is ready!
