Birthday
January 16, 2017
I have a dream
Dr. Kings dream was to have all people
treated with respect and judged only by their
character not the color of their skin. Our
class wrote our own dreams that we think
will make our world a better place to live.
On January 16th, 2017, we celebrated Martin
Luther Kings birthday. Martin Luther King, Jr. did a
lot of good things for African Americans and for all
Americans as well. He led the fight for equality for
everyone especially the African Americans. He
believed that no one should be treated unfairly
because of their skin color. Other people didnt like
him because he was African American. He gave a
famous speech at Washington D.C. called I Have a
Dream. In his speech, he said people werent
supposed to be judged by their skin color but by their
character.
In class, we talked about Martin Luther King, saw
a video of his I Have a Dream speech, and wrote
our own dreams about what we believe in and our
hopes for a better world.

I have a dream that we can end racism. People shouldnt
judge other people by the way they look. Whats more
important is the persons character and the way they act.
You should respect other peoples culture, like their
music. Even though you might not understand the music,
you shouldnt make fun of it. Everyone has a culture. If
everyone was the same, the world would be boring.
Different cultures make the world a better place.

I have a dream that everybody would have parents,
money, a house, and food. I have a dream that people
would stop violence. I have a dream that there would be
no more wars so everybody could be kind to each other. I
have a dream that there would be no more hate in this
world, that people would stop bullying and everybody
would not get made fun of. I have a dream that the world
could be a better place by stop littering, and helping the
environment.

I have a dream that one day everybody in the world
would be rich and have clothes, shelter, and food. If
everyone had money they would be the happiest people
on the planet.
I think that if everyone was rich, they all probably will
have everything that they want. Everyone will love it if
they were rich. They could have all the shoes and the
hats.

I have a dream that the world be a better place by not
having robberies or bad people. It can be a better place if
there aren't fear about robberies or bad people in this
world. If there aren't that many robberies and bad people
homes could be safe in meaning that people wouldn't
have to buy alarms for their house.

I have a dream that all the animals
in the world would have a
home with owners that really take
care of their pets and that people
dont kill animals like the rare
white tigers, bears, dog, cats,
moose. Thats why I want to
become a person that cares for
animals.
Amajanai
I have a dream that people stop
trying to cut down a lot of trees and
to stop pollution. The problem with
people cutting down trees is that we
need trees to live because the trees
help us breathe. Pollution is another
problem because the pollution is
harmful to animals and humans. I
hope the world will not be polluted
in the future.
Avant
I have a dream that there will be no
more wars. Wars are started by
simple things like if two countries
want to claim land or even hatred,
which means that I want hatred to
stop and fairness to go into the
leaders heads. Wars also cause
millions of people to die.
Christopher
I have a dream that poor people
should be treated fairly. I believe
that homeless people should be
treated with kindness and respect. I
also believe that there should be
no more racism. I strongly believe
that war should stop. dream.
Ciara
I have a dream that world pollution
will come to an end. The reason I
want this dream to happen is
because I want all animals and
humans to feel safe. For example in
the ocean when people throw their
six pack rings in the ocean some
fish can get stuck in it.

I have a dream that Martin Luther
King Jr.s dream will become true. I
have a dream that people will stop
being racist and stop fighting. I have
a dream that I will be an expert at
math. I have a dream that people will
stop having wars.

I have a dream to help homeless
people. I want to help them have
some shelter like an apartment. I
have a dream that people will stop
littering because right now so much
people like to throw paper, bags, and
bottles like out school at recess at the
grass the fence there is so much litter
so I want to help to keep Rio clean.

If the world was a better place people
should not fear of being mugged or
robbed. I have a dream that people
could go for a walk and not have fear
of anything. All around the world
should not have fear of being judged
on beliefs or religion. There should
be no hatred to other races. We
should not afraid or insult other
races. We should be one race, the
human race.

I have a dream that there will be no
bullying in school. People bully
others because of their skin color or
their culture. I have a dream that they
will stop violence because it is not
safe and guns too people carry them
all the time and I think that cops, the
army, and the soldiers should only
carry them around.

I have a dream that we could have
world peace. With world peace we
would not have wars, racism, gang
fights, school fights, and bullying.
With world peace it would be more
peaceful and safer for the
environment.

I have a dream inspired by Martin
Luther King. I have a dream that
soon no one will see tents under the
bridges or even on the streets,
because other people will respect
them and give them food and jobs.
People should not judge you for
your differences like the way you
talk, what you wear, your color, and
even your personality.

My dream is to release the animals
from the zoo. I dont want any poor
animals to be in a cage, I have a
dream. Poor animals such as lions,
tigers, monkeys, and zebras. The
animals are in a cage for only our
entertainment.

I have a dream that this world will
stop racism, and judge them by their
language and by how they speak.
They should not be laughed at their
clothes their skin tone. No one is
perfect, everybody is the same no
one should be treated better then
someone else

Being in this world sometimes
makes me sad, that we're living in a
world knowing that there are some
people that have a lot of hatred.
I have a dream that the world can
change, by treating people with
respect I have a dream that I
could be wealthy and help the
hungry homeless people, and help
the sick kids with cancer and other
disabilities.

I have a dream that the world will
stop judging people by how they
look and by skin color. They should
just be friends. In the past they
should have not treated people
differently based on skin color.

I have a dream that we should never
care about skin colors because people
are people. Even though tall or small
you should never bully people. We
should not litter because we want our
world clean. Instead of a world of
trash. We should never smoke because

Valentine Celebrations Winter Carnival
This year Valentines Day will be very special. December 16, 2016
Our Class is having a Valentine Challenge for students
to create and decorate a container to hold Valentine cards
and grams. There will be prizes for the best 3 containers.
The challenge is due on Feb. 14.
The school is also selling Valentine Grams. You can
buy grams for parents, family, teachers, and for friends.
Each gram costs 1$ for a card and Fun-Dip candy. Theres
also the Bear Gram which costs 3$ and comes with a
card, Fun-Dip, and a cute teddy bear.
The Grams will be delivered on February 14.

Technology &the Curriculum

In February, we will celebrate Black History Month.
Our class will use the internet to find information on a
person that made an impact on Black History. With the
researched information, we will create a 10-slide Google
Slide presentation. We will also use the Internet to
complete a Science Ecology report. In writing, Google
Docs is being used to type our Narrative writing. We will
also be continuing with our student websites this month.
Computers, the internet, and different programs are being
used everyday to support our Fifth Grade curriculum. We
are learning a lot!
