ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION

The assistant maintenance engineer is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep,


and long term asset integrity of all vessels. Design, develop, and take responsibility
for the installation, repair and troubleshooting of ship machinery and related
equipment including propulsion machines and power supply systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule and manage the daily activities and priority of work of all Marine
Maintenance staff.
Receives all work orders pertaining to mechanical and electrical repairs and
duly schedules and assigns these to the right office
Follows-up on the status of these work and keeps informed of all development
and completion time
Supervise and oversee the testing, installation, and repair of marine
apparatus and equipment.
Conduct analytical, environmental, operational, or performance studies in
order to develop designs for products, such as marine engines, equipment,
and structures.
Receive and maintain equipment documentation (blue prints, technical
manuals, operational manuals) and serve as the resource in their review and
use.
Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors
or other problems or defects.
Through inventory tracking, ensure that critical needs for parts and services
are available.
Maintain preventative maintenance program and software.
Maintain a good relationship and effectively interface with customer
representatives, contractors, staff and others as required.
Initiates work orders with third parties as deemed necessary by Assistant
Maintenance Engineer or Head Engineer
Performs quality control on all work contracted to a third party to ensure
standard compliance
Keeps logs of all work orders from vessels and work contracted to third
parties
Boards vessel to inspect problem and trouble on an as-needed basis
Coordinates with other departments on departmental needs and project
needs
All other duties as assigned by Head Maintenance Engineer.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


Familiar with vessel machinery and engines , preferable possesses Marine
Engineer Certification
A minimum of 3 years of previous successful work experience in marine
maintenance is required.
A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
Able to use computer software to write reports and effectively communicate
with management (MS, internet, Adobe and AutoCAD)
Knowledge of hydraulics and outboard motors.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and
maintenance.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will
understand.
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize task.
Ability to perform job duties with little or no supervision.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work safely and direct the Marine Maintenance department to work
safely, with emphasis on following procedures and best management
practices.
Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and
consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude toward
coworkers, clients, vendors, and customers.
Ability to interact with regulatory agencies and peers with self-confidence,
poise, and professionalism.
Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.
