Assignment title Business Processes and Functions (Assignment 1 of 2)

In this assignment, you are going to assume the role of a Junior Consultant in CIE
Business Consulting Services, a professional business consulting company located
in Da Nang, Vietnam. Your team is expected to provide an accurate assessment
and viable recommendations of the business (your companys client) to help them
conduct their operations smoothly.

Your job is to evaluate the processes and systems as well as design an alternative
operational plan for the business. In this job, you will be needing the assistance of
(and coordination with) the business management team. Through them, you can
gain access to the information that you will need to conduct you evaluation.

Your objectives are as follows:

1. Provide a thorough evaluation of the business processes and


functions.

In this objective, you need to ensure that you were able to;

LO 1.1 evaluate the interrelationship between the different processes and


functions of the business.
HINT: Effectively describe how the company MGO, organisational culture, organisational structure and
core business processes relate to each other.

LO 1.2 justify the methodology used to map processes to the business


goals and objectives.
HINT: Illustrate the process map of the business applying one of the process mapping techniques. You
need to justify why the particular technique was used.

LO 1.3 evaluate the output of the processes and the quality gateways.
HINT: Based on the business objectives, determine the output of its processes and the output
indicators applicable to measure the effectiveness of the process, as well as the quality gateways.

From your evaluation, you need to translate these inputs into an alternative
Operational Plan for the business Operations Department. For this task, you need
to:

LO 2.1 design a plan for the Operations Department which promotes the goals and
objectives of the business organisation.

LO 2.2 write objectives, which are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and
time-based to align people and other resources in an effective and efficient manner.

Hint (LO2.1 & LO2.2): Use an appropriate format in designing the Operations Departments Operational Plan
consisting of Objectives, Actions, Level of Priority, Timeframe, Resources, Responsibility, and Output Indicators.
Actions should include, among others, plans for product/service improvement.

LO 2.3 implement appropriate systems to achieve objectives in the most efficient
