The Government of Morocco is building the first eco-optimized

coal-fired power plant near the city of Safi. The installation of
Flowtite pipes for the flue gas desulphurisation system (FGD)
has been completed.

its growing electricity demand at the lowest possible cost whilst

respecting the environment.

The FGD system is just one part of this large eco-optimization
project. The installation of all the systems will continue until July
2017. We are extremely proud to be able to help reducing the
carbon footprint of coal-based energy, says Mrs. Meryem Hadri,
technical engineer of Amitech Maroc, which are providing the
Flowtite GRP pipes.

Reduces carbon footprint - optimises performance

The plant’s construction site is located near the city of Safi in

Southwest Morocco. Coal-fired power plants provide higher
carbon footprint than most other sources of energy. The
technology chosen by the Morocco government will not only
reduce the carbon footprint, but also optimize the performance
output.

Amitech Maroc is one of the major suppliers for this project,

delivering a total of 13 km Flowtite GRP pipes. Amitech Maroc’s
mission is to conduct studies, supply self-thrust Flowtite GRP
pipes and fittings for the plant’s cooling turbines, and to perform
GRP field hydrostatic tests.

Flowtite GRP pipes

Flowtite GRP pipes are developed by the Norwegian technology

company Flowtite Technology AS, which is owned by Saudi
Arabian Amiantit Group. Flowtite GRP pipes have been in the
market since 1965 and are famous for their corrosion resistance,
long service life and low environmental impact. The pipes have
been used in many projects around the globe, on all five
continents, accumulating to more than 70 000 km in total.
