Course Description:
The Montessori Methodology has been around for over a hundred years. Its
methodology has proved that given a systematic approach to learning and hands on
materials to engage the whole child, the children are able to construct themselves as a
humble and responsible human being while enriching their minds. The hands-on
approach in the classroom will allow for the trainee to fully comprehend the Montessori
Philosophy and how it guides to self-construct the child.

Mode of Delivery:
1. Lecture
2. Demonstration on presentation of Montessori Materials
3. Student presentation only for selected activities
4. Class discussions
5. Teachers will gradually introduce children to the materials as they learn. (First
half of the day practice with children; second half of the day Teachers
Montessori training sessions)

Mode of Assessment:
1. Practical Exam
2. Class Quiz
3. Observation of hands-on in Classroom implementation of Montessori and
planning of Individual Lesson Plans

70 % Practical

Learning Objectives:
1. To develop a deeper understanding of current theories, research of child
development, the Montessori Principle and Philosophy and their implication on
early childhood care and education.
2. Understand childrens interactions with the environment.
3. Develop a framework for creating a learning environment that will enhance the
total development of young children.
4. Demonstrate their understanding of the teachers role, knowledge and skills of
the teaching/learning processes and their implications for practice.
5. An appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids
6. Knowledge of the Montessori environment and the role of a Montessori
directress/director. 7. Knowledge of the Montessori Curriculum.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Able to implement the Montessori Pedagogy in the classroom or at home,
assisting children in their development of will, focus, concentration and patience.
2. Able to understand the psychic development of children and abolish the Selfish
Adult syndrome.
3. Able to set up a Montessori Prepared Environment / Classroom/ School.
4. Able to aid children towards independence through Montessori Practical Life
activities.
5. Able to use the Montessori Phonics Methodology to assist children in their
language development.
6. Able to use the Montessori Sensorial activities to assist children in categorizing
stimulus from his environment and turning them into knowledge.
7. Able to use the Montessori Mathematics to assist children to understand
mathematics concept in a concrete to abstract sequence.
8. Able to use the Montessori Cultural activities to assist children in developing
their will and understanding of his immediate environment.
