Proposal

Client Needs
The requirements for this project are
noted in my brief. I must first create a
Gantt chart so that I will have a time
schedule planned out in order to keep
in control of my progress. The second
requirements are to assemble a budget
report. The budget report must contain
all the software and equipment I will be
requiring in order to complete this
assignment, the report also requires
me to note the prices of all the items
listed and their totals.
A planned proposal is required for the project before I can move onto the creation of my
product. This document is the proposal and I will be referring back throughout my project to
help with ideas and how I go about designing them. it will also be an important document if I
ever find myself stuck or unable to remember what needs doing next. This way I can go back
and see what I need to do.
The main task is that the client needs is for me to ultimately create an animated channel
ident, and the length must be a maximum of 30 seconds of footage. It has been requested
that there be the logo present and it should show an example of a sit-com, comedy, and
drama. The channel is aimed at the ages 18-30 which must be kept in mind during the design
process. This needs to be created on Macromedia, which I have used previously so I have
some experience, but if I ever get stuck I can just easily remind myself with a handbook.

Mind Map of Ideas

I have created a mind map to aid in ideas generation for this project. They contain the basics
I must include such as the dimensions, lists of available software. As well as other ideas such
as animation style, theme of ident and music.
The mind map consists of Formats, Themes, Screen Size, Target Age Group, Video Content
Requirements, Colour Schemes and Graphics.
I will also need to identify which music would be best suitable for the ident. As my target
audience and main theme is based around a city, I might try and find some urban style music
that adults may enjoy too, so I can appeal to the whole of my target audience.

Storyboards
Dope Sheets

Script
The script will vary depending on which idea I choose to act upon, music and narration must
be chosen carefully and utilized to full potential in order to result in the best possible effect
created. The music and narration is just as important as the visual as they enhance the
experience if done correctly. The music will need to be fitting but at the same time it will
need to stand out against the other adverts it will be played between. I will probably not
need a narrator as my ident is music-based.
Idea: the first 2 frames will show buildings where the lights of the rooms are arranged so it
spells out The Grid. Then itll cut to Starboy The Weeknd ft. Daft Punk, then The Big Bang
Theory, then James Cordons Late Late show. The final scene is the logo of my ident which is
featured above.
Demographics
The target age group for this
assignment is between the ages 18 to
30 years, no gender specification has
been given so I will have to assume it
will be for both genders. I need to
include clips of music, TV sitcoms and
chat shows to appeal to most
audiences.
I must also make sure the ident and the
logo of the network will match the tastes and expectations of a person aged between 18 and
30. This will be a little tricky as there is not a specific gender to try and appeal to, therefor I
will have to stay away from any gender biased designs or colours in my work.
I have decided to use urban music as I mentioned earlier as I feel it appeal to my target
audience. It also fits and ties in with the theme that I am using.
In order to completely avoid racial inquiries in my video I will not be providing characters or
mascots in my idents. The only representation of race will be within the clips I show of the
program footage. I will aim to have both Caucasian and Asian ethnicities in the footage I
choose.

Logo Design
My logo ties in with the idea of an urban
industry that follows the media and the youth
of the world. The colours are meant to give off
a certain excitement whenever you see it, as it
looks dangerous and thrilling. The buildings at
the bottom of the words highlight the urban
effect I wanted to give off so it can appeal to
my target audience. Also the reason why I
chose an urban theme is because most aspects
of television are filmed or produced within a big city, so that is also why I chose a city theme.
Colour Scheme
the colours I have chosen
are reds and black of a dark
descent as again Im
playing upon the idea of
danger and thrills within
the media.
In my research, have also investigated existing colour pallet themes. I have noticed that most
channels have a set collection of colours which they use in order to keep consistency. For
example, channel 4 originally used the same shade of purple for their idents, but have now
changed the scheme, and rather than using just purple they now use dark colours and
patterns.

Music
In my ident, I will be using 2 pieces of music; Starboy The
Weeknd, and another one in the background whilst the ident is
playing. This is because I dont want my audience to listen to too
much as I dont want them to lose interest in the ident. I have
chosen these songs as potential music for my ident as they are of
the genre I am aiming at using, and I feel that the way the music
flows in them will fit my ident ideas.

Sound
The sound effects will tie in to my ident as the video will fit it. For example, I have chosen
some sounds such as laughter, explosions and whooshing sounds. Whilst I am dealing with
any sound effect I may be inserting I will require the use of ear/headphones else I will be
unable to work with the sound components of the product, the same goes for when I am
adding the music and narrative of the Ident.
Format
The format I will be completing the assignment in is Macromedia. I have practiced with the
software and I am capable of assembling and arranging a successful animation.
If possible I would like to complete the animation in
Macromedia, and the once I have put all my images together,
export the file and open the file into Premiere so that I can add
audio and music, this is because cropping down music is much
easier in Premiere then it is in Macromedia. If I cannot use this
method, I will open up the music I want to use for the animation
in Adobe Sound booth and crop it in there. I will then be able to
transfer the ready-cropped files into Flash and it will make the
process faster and less stressful.

Copyright Laws
The legal way to obtain a digital software programme is to purchase the products from an
official distribution site, or if the product is a free download it should be downloaded from
the original site and not from a dodgy site.
The copyright designs and patent act, which was created in 1988 and was introduced for two
main reasons, which consisted of making sure people are rewarded for their hard work, and
also give their creator some kind of protection if their work is ever stolen. Before this act,
there was very little that these people could do if someone did steal their work and claim it
as their own. This law covers a number of different types of primary multimedia and in
particular its focused on protecting ICT work since its a lot easier to take credit of someone
else's work. This can also apply to copying software, mp3, songs, video, images, text etc.
anything that someone has initially created and you have taken without the owners
permission is in breach of this copyright law.
Especially with images, there is always the option of using stock photos, which are photos
where the copyright owner has decided to open them up to be easily used freely by the
public. Sometimes, strict rules can occur when and where the asset may be used, so its
always important to read what copyright owner has specified. Then again, you are able to
actually pay for assets now, meaning you dont necessarily buy the copyright to the image,
but you buy the right for it, meaning that because you have paid for the actual right, you can
choose to use it how you wish.
Hardware Requirements
The obvious hardware components I will be needing for this assignment is a computer and
desktop, the computer will need to have a large memory size in order to be able to store all
the different software I will require, as well as memory to be able to save my work as it
progresses.
All software, when run, resides in the random access memory (RAM) of a computer. Memory
requirements are defined after considering demands of the application, operating system,
supporting software and files, and other running processes. Optimal performance of other
unrelated software running on a multi-tasking computer system is also considered when
defining this requirement.
Software Requirements
We have been given the option of using two animation softwares to compose the work. The
choices were between Adobe Flash and Macromedia Director. I have chosen to use Flash as
It has a clearer timeline and accurate controls over the graphics. It is also a more modern
software unlike Director which is older, this means there is less chance of the programme
crashing during work and that there will be a wider range of help and tutorials online if I
want to do something specific.
Adobe Premiere
Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the
Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development
programs.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a raster graphics editor developed and
published by Adobe Systems for macOS and Windows.
Word
Microsoft Word is a word processor developed by Microsoft.

Excel
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet developed by Microsoft for Windows, macOS, Android and
iOS. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language
called Visual Basic for Applications. It has been a very widely applied spreadsheet for these
platforms, especially since version 5 in 1993, and it has replaced Lotus 1-2-3 as the industry
standard for spreadsheets. Excel forms part of Microsoft Office.
