Tutorial No. 1

(Getting started in AutoCAD)

Time 2 hours

Important Instructions for the students:

- Each student shall be allotted a PC in the Cad Lab. Student is not allowed to change the PC during the semester.
- All students shall login in the <UG> user.
- Create a working folder on the desktop named <2015_ODD_GROUP_R.NO.> e.g.
2015_ODD_CHE1_101501001. All subsequent assignments shall be created within the same folder throughout the
semester.
- Storage Media (USB/CD) is not allowed in the Cad Lab.
- Student shall name the *. dwg files in the format WEEK<no.>_title of the sheet, e.g. WEEK 3_Projection of
lines.dwg
- Use metric units by default.
- Follow first angle projection system.
Make the following dimensioned sketches using AutoCad and save as indicated in your working folder.

Tutorial No. 2
(PROJECTION OF POINTS)
(Time: 2 Hours)
1. Draw the projections of the following points on common XY line, keeping the distance between the projectors
as 30 mm.
Point A : 30 mm above HP and 50 mm in front of VP.
Point B : 20 mm above HP and 30 mm behind VP.
Point C : 35 mm below HP and 20 mm behind VP.
Point D : 40 mm below HP and 15 mm in front of VP.
Point E : 50 mm in front of VP and on
Point F : 35 mm above HP and on VP. POINT A B C D E F G H I
Point G : 25 mm below HP and on VP. QUADRANT
Point H : 35 mm Behind VP and on HP.
Point I : On both HP and VP.
Also identify the quadrant in which these points lie and represent it in tabular form.
2. Point Q is 30 mm from HP and lies in third quadrant. Distance between its front view and top view is 50 mm.
Draw the following views: Front view, top view and left side view.
3. Point P has one of its view 50 mm below XY when it is in first quadrant. When the point is considered in third
quadrant, it has one of its view 20 mm below XY. Draw the projections when it is in second quadrant.

Tutorial No. 3
(PROJECTION OF LINES)
(Time: 2Hours)
1. Draw the projections of the following lines

Line AB 40 mm long, parallel to both HP and VP. Point A is 15 mm from VP and 20 mm from HP.
Line CD 50 mm long parallel to VP and 300 to HP. Point C is 10 mm from VP and 20 mm from HP.
Line EF 45 mm long parallel to HP and 400 to VP. Point E is 25 mm from VP and 20 mm from HP.
Line GH 50 mm long, normal to HP. Point G is 15 mm from VP and 15 mm from HP.
Line JK 25 mm long, normal to VP. Point J is 10 mm from VP and 20 mm from HP.
Line MN in profile plane. Point M is 10 mm from VP and 15 mm from HP. Point N is 50 mm from VP and
40 mm from HP.
Draw the projections assuming the lines to be in first quadrant as well as in third quadrant.

2. End point A of line AB is 25 mm from HP and 10 mm from VP. End B is 50 mm from HP and 45 mm from VP.
Distance between the end projectors as measured parallel to XY is 60 mm. Draw elevation, plan and profile
view in first and third quadrants.

3. Line PQ is 80 mm long. It is normal to VP and 30 mm above HP. One fourth of the line is in first quadrant.
Draw front and top view of the given line.

4. Point A is 25 mm above HP and 20 mm in front of VP. Front view is inclined at 300 to XY line and measures 65
mm. Point B is in third quadrant. Plan of the line is 450 to the XY line. Draw the projections of the line (FV, TV
and side View.)

5. Mid point of the projections of the line is in HP and VP. Distance between the projectors is 70 mm. The line is
in two quadrants. FV and TV measures 100 mm and 120 mm respectively. Draw FV, TV and left side view.

6. Line AB has its ends A 10 mm from VP and 20 mm from HP. Point B is 55 mm from VP and 50 mm from HP.
Distance between end projectors is 50 mm. Draw the front view, top view and L.side view of the line assuming
the line to be in first quadrant.
