Project Description
A Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) is needed to serve as an Aeronautical Engineer for
the Centro de Ingeniera y Desarrollo Industrial (CIDESI) in the state of Queretaro, Mexico.
Peace Corps Mexico partners with public research centers under the umbrella of the National
Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), and
universities to strengthen their technical capacities by collaborating in projects and providing
training to students, professors, scientists and administrative staff. CIDESI is one of seven
CONACYT research centers offering Master and Doctorate degrees as part of the PICYT
program an interagency and multidisciplinary postgraduate program in Science and
Technology. PICYTs main objective is the formation of human capital with high scientific and
technological capabilities able to generate, innovate, apply and transfer knowledge that is
academically and socially relevant to the productive sector. CIDESIs academic focus is in
engineering, specializing in Design and Development of Mechanical Systems, Advanced
Manufacturing, Mechatronics, and Metrology. CIDESI is the only research and development
center in the country with the AS9100 certification rev. C which is a requirement in the
aeronautical sector. With Mexicos growing aeronautical industry, CIDESI is seeking to acquire
a more comprehensive vision of aeronautical engineering and develop the capacity for design,
development, research and management in the field of aviation propulsion systems.

Volunteer safety is of paramount importance, and the protections of U.S. citizenship promote
volunteer safety. Under Mexican law, anyone born in Mexico who became a U.S. citizen after
1998 or anyone holding dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship is considered a citizen of Mexico, and
not of the United States. If such an individual faced a legal, safety or other emergency
situation in Mexico, the Peace Corps' ability to intervene could be limited. Therefore, the PC
will not place in Mexico individuals who are either dual citizens of Mexico and the U.S. or who
were born in Mexico and became U.S. citizens after 1998. If you fit either of these categories,
we encourage you to look at other opportunities with PC Response.
