Dear Parishioners,
Today we are drawn into the life Jesus as we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood
of Jesus Christ. Jesus took bread and wind as he gathered his disciples at the Last Supper.
He said: This is my body This is my blood given for you take and eat, take and
drink. Take me so that you can now be art of my life and I can be part of your life!
As human beings there are many types of BREAD we need to eat. We have many
kind of HUNGER in our lives. Jesus offers himself to us in many ways, to bring our hunger
to our end.
We take a look at the ministry of Jesus and see the kind of bread he gave to people
who had a certain type of humger:
Those 5,000 who followed him, and stayed on the hillside, he gave food through a
multiplication of loaves and fishes.
To those who were sick, he gave the bread of physical healing.
To the lonely woman at the well in Samaria, he gave the bread of human kindness
and forgiveness.
To sinners, he gave the bread of forgiveness.
To the outcasts in society, he mixed with them and shared their bread.
To the widow of Naim and Martha and Mary, he gave the bread of the promise of
the resurrection at the loss of a loved one.
To Zacchaeus and the thief on the cross, he offered the bread of the promise of
forgiveness and a new life.
Jesus continues to give us himself in the Eucharist. In our Mission Week, we traced
the story of Emmaus to they recognised him in the Breaking of Bread.
All of this, and more we celebrate in todays feast.
THANKS: What a wonderful Mission Week weve had. Thanks to all who participated
early mornings and late evenings and all in between! The Lord has blessed us, maybe in
ways we will not fully understand now. Praise the Lord! Thanks especially to those who
were involved in the evening mission service and those who nourished us with food and
drink.
