Indian Removal Packet

The first part Indian Removal Packet talks about how the Native Americans are
considered, more or less, enemies of the United States. The packet also highlights this in the
perspective of a Native American, which shows us how the Native Americans were kicked off
their own land and forced to move westward. The Packet also shows how the Cherokee explains
that the land of Georgia is the land of their forefathers and have a right to live there, but the
United States is making them move to a more desolate location West. They also explain that it
will be hard to live there due to the fact that there is little land to cultivate from and it is also an
unknown area.
The second part of the packet talks about how Andrew Jackson talks about how Jackson
is moving all of the Native American tribes toward the Mississippi region in which they can
practice and pursue happiness freely as if he was doing a favor for them. He also continues
talking about that he hopes that the Native Americans can give up their savage ways and create
places that reflects Christian values as well as a more civilized community.

David Walkers Appeal

David Walkers appeal talks about the cruelty of slavery as well as the hypocrisy of
slavery in a Christian nation that is built on liberty and equality. Walker also explains that it
does not make sense how the western world declared that black people are inferior to whites
even though there is supposed to be equality amongst all people. Another hypocrisy that Walker
points out is that slavery does not make sense in a Christian community for a few reasons. One
is that Christianity preaches equality yet black people are considered inferior. The second reason
is that Christianity teaches peace yet slaveowners violently beat their slaves. Overall, this
excerpt is for anti-slavery.

The Confessions of Nat Turner

The Confessions of Nat Turner is an interrogation about Nat Turner lead a revolt that
killed a lot of white people. It is interesting that he has no remorse over the killings and how he
sees himself as a messiah of some sort. He compares himself in a way that he is like Jesus due to
the fact that he got crucified for leading his people for a good cause, and the people that followed
him are his disciples that will change the world. Much of the confessions mainly also talks about
the killings themselves.

The Liberator
The Liberator mainly talks about comparing the free states with the slave states of the
South. Lloyd explains how he gives evidence on why slaves should be free in the South and
talks about how there should be equality. He also talks about that it should be self evident that
slavery should be abolished because all people are created equal under the Declaration of
Independence. One thing that should also be self apparent is that he notices that people in the
North are more for ending slavery than people in the South.
