    In some cases, the principal axes of the strain ellipse are fixed in position during
    deformation, this is coaxial strain
    Coaxial deformation result in pure shear(squash)

    Noncoaxial deformation

    In other cases, the principal axes rotate during deformation and this is noncoaxial
    deformation
    Noncoaxial deformation results in simple shear(deck of cards)
    Computer cards are good example of simple shear
